Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, as my car is off the road with this starting issue (suspecting the fuel pump tbh) And I'm both working from home and self-isolating due to being "at risk", the car is not really doing much aside from going flat. So I wanted to get a trickle-charger - this springs to mind as it is what it is: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ECO-WORTHY...dZQwd02BT3PJNKi8x0cznqR7UekSrlXZdQwJEDPhODjNM £15 solar charger that will run from the ciggy lighter. Plan is to use this mostly in the weeks, then try to fire it up at the weekends for a bit just to keep its juices flowing. Before I press "BUY", can I confirm the at ciggy lighter on an MY00 Carrera 4 is permanent live please? Cheers, Dan

POST 2Original post

The AA version has lighter connection but also has the much better OBD charge option. Worked great for me at airports: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Powered-Battery-Charger-Caravan-Package/dp/B07P7C6QLD

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for reply, and apologies for the late response - SWMBO decreed that a carpet needed laying in the daughter's bedroom!! Seems to forget that I'm working from home at the moment! Anyway - yes, good idea. Didn't even know that you could charge from OBD. Every day is a school day! now to debate whether or not to SORN it for this next month (it's still in the old tax bracket so frikin peanuts anyway) Cheers, Dan

POST 4Original post

I didn't think the 996.1 had a permanently live lighter socket.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hmmm, so will this type of thing work or not? Is the permanent live required if just using the ciggy lighter? Will it still work with the OBD version? Cheers, Dan

POST 8Original post

Easy to check, pop a cigarette lighter usb plug in and connect it to your phone with ignition keys out. If it charges its live
