One of the heater pipe joints had already had a jubilee clip fitted but still weeps even though tightened.
Leading evidence: 'Install but still weeps even though tightened' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install but still weeps even though tightened' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. I would be tempted to slide the pipe over a little more and use some 5900 as dM says
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just had an epic underbody clean and bilt hamber waxing 3 weeks, incl changing some major rigid brake lines. Couple of bits of minor rust to tidy up. All back together and MOT booked Thurs.
Whilst doing all of this I noticed a couple of weeps on the rubber hose to ally pipe joints. One of the heater pipe joints had already had a jubilee clip fitted but still weeps even though tightened. The other is one of the rad hoses.
Do they generally need the ally cleaning up and/or a new hose? I notice on the heater hose there is what looks like a plastic joint in the rubber hose from the engine - how does this come apart?
Finally, is it better to move to worm drive clips rather than the spring loaded ones?
Any help or advice greatly appreciated?
Regards
Ian
If they are original I'd say they are due for replacement. I've applied a jubilee clip to one of mine and it has stopped it weeping but the hose itself is flaring at the end, suggesting to me that it's time is up, another thing to go on the list!
Experience on a previous Land Rover also tells me that it's also useful to clean up the hose spigots as well, as corrosion can set in and cause the weeping.
Modern Antifreeze .. ie the Pink stuff Porsche uses contains additives that stop small leaks ..
It forms a pink chalk like substance .. an old leak that's stopped if you like ..
The down side is it can build up inside the pipe connection and cause a leak... it grows to such a degree it pushes the rubber pipe away from the metal one .
The usual fix is drain the coolant .. seperate the rubber pipe , sand down the metal and refit with a Jubilee clip .. porsche have pretty much supercedeed most spring type clamps for jubilee clips these days .
The spring clips when old dont clamp as well basically .
When sanding down the metal pipe then have a close inspection of it .. small black holes in ally indicates corrosion may well have penetrated the metal pipe and it will need replacing .
In short .. if pink and crusty but not damp then you don't need to touch it .. if damp then you do and it will probably end up needing a replacement metal pipe ... With A Jubilee clip !
For specific hoses then pictures please so we know which bit you mean
lets just say i have a 996 engine out today that i'm doing this on just about every pipe on the car !!
A good look at the ally pipe after you have cleaned it up .. small black pin prick " posible holes " are what you're looking for .. if you see them then you have 2 choices ..
Considering these are the heater pipes which req the fuel tank to be dropped then you might need this alternative ...
First off .. drop the tank and replace .. ouch .
Second .. clean and dry thoroughly .. a smear of engine grade sealant on the ally pipe then fit the rubber hose over it .. ok if the " hole " is inside the pipe .. it won't work if the corrosion is outside of where the rubber pipe wil seal .
loctite 5900 is the sealant i would use if i was doing this .. customer authorisation on this repair as we cannot guarantee it .. although it should work just fine imho .
EDIT ..
First picture shows the pink residue i was talking about very nicely .
It does seem to be weeping between the hose and the ally tube.
I did wonder if the hose could be lengthened to push onto the ally tube further.
Having dropped the front subframe already to do the transverse brake pipe and rigid rack pipes I dont have a desperate desire to do it again!
Thanks for your advice.

This is what I think is a hose connector. Just wondered how you separate the hose? (Black cylindrical thing, with two flutes/grooves, in the middle ish of the shot)
Had one of the ally heater pipes let go on mine a few weeks ago, had them both changed as a precautionary measure and the rubber hoses, as DM said its a fuel tank off job, got it done for mates rates!
Trying to figure out coolant lines is a bit of a nightmare but im guessing its 18 or 33 in this link with 33 being the most obvious ..
