I've only covered 6k in the car this year since its 60k service this time last year, so there wasn't a requirement to have the oil changed but I had it done at my request.

They rung me during the day to say the car needed a brake fluid change (every 2 years) which I'd completely forgot about and so authorised the work.

Should they have the same service schedules & when you say "inspection only", is nothing changed (oil etc)

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys
looking to buy a C4 tiptronic, it's due it's 60k service, can anyone give me an idea of costs? Would probably go specalist.
Cheers
Dave
ps if anyone can recommend a good specalist
in the Reading/Farnham area too?
It will depend what was done and when in the previous service history but to give you some idea my local independent charges are as follows:
Minor service (12 month) £249
Major service (24months / 2nd year) £399
Major service (48 months / 4th year) £499
Then, depending when things were last done as most of the below are every two years:
Spark plugs if needed £115
Brake fluid £85
Clutch fluid £65
Coolant replacement £129 (every 4 years)
All exclude VAT
Ok......if the car had a Major service last then it will need a Minor service now (£381 inc VAT).
The spark plugs are due every 48,000 miles or 4 years so as the car is 7 years old & done 60,000 miles I'm guessing the plugs have already been changed. When they do need changing the cost is £162 inc VAT.
The brake fluid change is due every 2 years regardless of mileage. Cost for this is £111 inc VAT.
If you can tell me what the last 2 services were, ie minor, major or yearly & the dates & mileages they were done we can be sure to determine which service is actually due.
Cheers
OPC's have a "5+" schedule (25% off labour and 10% off parts AFAIK)
That's £360 all-in and courtesy car, pick-up (my OPC, Cambridge, even offers a restaurant lunch for two!) and a valet.
Cheekily I asked if I could use my own oil (which they agreed), saving a further £120 off the price = £240 for a stamped book (if that sort of thing floats your boat).
I already have the Boxster S 3.4 DFI Manual courtesy can booked and a day off to enjoy it
PS - oil was £55 for 10L (only need 8.5 for 3.4 engine) delivered next day.
Plus any other non-scheduled maintenance work/parts are are warranteed for two at least two years (no, not the oil, filter etc)

Hi Dave,
I travelled from Newcastle to Reading to buy my C4S from Northway Porsche, a specialist in Aldermaston. Ray Northway is a complete gentleman and although I dont remember any servicing prices, I do remember they were very reasonable, so much so I'm considering going back down there when my service is due. Hope this helps!
Really sorry to be cheeky & hi-jack the tread, but I have another servicing question so I thought.....rather than start a new thread
uh:
My car had a major service 30.09.08.
It's only just covered 7k since.
I am aware that it is only due a minor 1 this time round, but as it's only covered relatively low mileage since it's last service, my question is, can I afford to leave it until early next year.
The reason I ask is that I have the annual Lemans trip to do in June and wanted to get it serviced as close to that as possible. Was thinking Feb March type time.
Opinions if you please :thumb:
Hi Adam,
if your car is a 2000 model year & it had a Major service last september & has only covered 7k since then its only due an annual service (yearly) which is basically an inspection only.
I would have this done now (£128 inc VAT), have a pre-trip inspection done before you go to Le mans & then the minor service next sept.
That way it keeps the service history as it should be.
Cheers
Dave,
this may not be too helpfull for you as I live in the Midlands, but I picked up my C4S yesterday after an annual service from Zentrum, near Nottingham, (indy). The first time I've ever used them.
I've only covered 6k in the car this year since its 60k service this time last year, so there wasn't a requirement to have the oil changed but I had it done at my request. They charged me -
£150 for annual service
including
9 litres mobil one engine oil & filter
They rung me during the day to say the car needed a brake fluid change (every 2 years) which I'd completely forgot about and so authorised the work.
£55 for brake fluid change
They also said I had a small oil leak on vario cam box 4 (? I had noticed a very small leak myself tbh, but nothing leaking onto the floor) and they had the oil seal in stock, to fit it would be half an hours labour, so I authorised that too.
£5 - seal
£22.50 - labour
I was very happy with their pricing (all plus VAT of course), they had my car a day and I had their courtesy car a day, for no extra cost. Service book stamped up with annual service plus oil change & brake fluid section completed.
I thought they had a well equipped set-up there. I saw a couple of 996's, a 996 C4S tip, a 997, boxster, 928 and 3.2 Carrera that were in and around the workshop whilst I was there. Very tempted to use them again.
I was thinking of using an Indy. Should they have the same service schedules & when you say "inspection only", is nothing changed (oil etc)
You say the minor service would be due next year then. Is it Major > Minor every 2 years with inspections in between on the 996 then??
Thanks & sorry for all the questions
