Suggestion

there is a very very rare option for a seat with a thinner base foam , not sure if you could just change the foam on a standard base and the leather cover would still fit

Suggestion · Original poster

Looking to buy a 911, currently running around in a Mk4 R32 golf, it has massive Konig leather bucket seats, sat in a 1998 C2 this morning, the seats felt quite small, how would these compare to a 2002 C4 seat, are they identical?

I also used to get lower back pain on a long run due to a lack of lumbar support, but a foam pad behind the seat back cushion sorted that out.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys. Looking to buy a 911, currently running around in a Mk4 R32 golf, it has massive Konig leather bucket seats, sat in a 1998 C2 this morning, the seats felt quite small, how would these compare to a 2002 C4 seat, are they identical? Do others find the seats a bit small? Cheers Dave Ps i am 17st and 6 foot, with broad shoulders.

POST 2Original post

i have sports seats in mine and their ok for me , i'm 6'1" and 191/2 stone sports seat are tighter than comfort seats but my corrado seats were much tighter pic of sports seats Rob

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well if your happy, recon id cope ok.. Do u find them supportive and comfortable on long trips?

POST 4Original post

Dave, I'm the same size as you, I have one with sports seats and one with comfort. I fit in both equally, however the comfort seats are not as comfy as the sports seats :dont know: and really give no confidence when cornering. If your bums sliding around you lose touch with the chassis. If you can get Sports seat then do so. IMHO :bye: Cheers Jim.

POST 5Original post

Well I'm 6'1" and 14 stone, but I find the sports seats can be a bit snug in the thigh region. I also used to get lower back pain on a long run due to a lack of lumbar support, but a foam pad behind the seat back cushion sorted that out.

POST 6Original post

Iam of a similar build to you guys Sports seats in my 993 were fabulous Non sports in my 996tt I didnt like at all, but they wer not uncomfortable, just no where near as good as sports seats Both have far softer bases that the Konigs in an R32 in my experience and ar emore comfortable overall

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Brilliant.. sounds like im worried about nothing..

POST 8Original post

I am 6 4", and 16.5 stone, fit in my c4s without too much of an issue, i did remove the floor mat to make it easier for my legs under the steering wheel, i just dont understand why they did not make the steering wheel fully adjustable rather than just up and down :dont know:

POST 9Original post

I agree Hi I am only 6ft 2 and I found the sports seats very snug and also the driving position... so mucg so that I went to my local OPC and asked i could move the seats back further... which i couldnt. I have grown used to this now and find the sports seats in my C4S excellent, its a matter of getting used to the driving position and the range of movement, but wouldnt chnage a thing now. Hope that helps So to conclude, get sports seats, get a wide bodied C4S

POST 10Original post

Not wishing to sound negative to put you off, but I am really struggling with the sport seats at the moment. I have had the car three weeks now and I am still getting back pain. Originally I think I had the seat too upright according to what some people said on here, so I angled the seat back to almost 45 degrees and raised the seat slightly. Now the pain has moved upwards because my upper back and shoulders are no longer supported. I have also purchased a lower back cushion from Halfords, but that didn't make it any better. The other night I did a 50 mile journey and stopped in every available layby to adjust the seat. I am sure I have had it in every configurable position, but nothing seems to be comfortable. I don't really understand it, because I would not consider myself to be overly large (6'1" and 13.5st).

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You sure u havent just got a bad back???

POST 12Original post

Having had both, I think there's very little difference (if any) on the seat swab (the bit you sit on!) between the sports or comfort seats. I certainly didn't have any issues with my bum sliding around on the comfort seats (although I accept that if I'd tracked the car that may have been an issue). I find the sports seats more comfortable on a long trip as they're more supportive, particularly around the shoulders.

POST 13Original post

One of my big worries, would I fit! Well 21 st and 6ft 3...and i am comfy in my C4S... Leg room is good for me, head room is good and my very broad (fat) shoulders fit in there in comfort. A 4 hour spion to newcastle in the Porkie is more comfortable than it is in my Xtrail! So worry not....

POST 14Original post

I'm 6'2" and 16st, the standard seats are fine support wise in my MY2000 996 Carrera. I found the standard seats in my 2007 R32 lacked any lateral support. My problem with the Porsche seats is that they do not go down low enough. My inside leg is only 30.5" so most of my height is in my back. No matter what I do my head is pretty hard up against the roof. (The car has a sunroof which does not help but the seats have the manual - not electric - height adjustment). Does anyone know of a way to get the seats lower - or of an alternative seat/rail combination which would drop the seat base by 1-2"?
