Suggestion
If I was going to track the car a lot I would have gone with standard supension replaced with aftermarket coil-overs for better track performance and 18s, due to tire availablity and increased feedback, even though 19" may go a little faster with a pro driver.
Leading evidence: 'Replace with aftermarket coil-overs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace with aftermarket coil-overs' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. At that point, there will be little merit in taking one out for a test drive (assuming it is even possible).
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Any chance of some more of your thoughts regarding the engine, I.e. power, torque, speed of revs rise. That sort of thing. Any thing else you feel like passing on.
V6TT, you lucky ...
Went to Porsche West London today to have another look and try out the car for size. Car is totally gorgeous and roomy (I am 6ft 1inch). Picked up hard backed brochure and full options price list. The UK spec was clearly meant to include full leather but someone at Porsche changed their minds - the inclusion is whited out (poorly, could still read the text underneath) on the price list.
Booked my test drive for 3 Dec. Richard at Porsche W. London said Arctic Silver is the most popular colour at the moment closely followed by Black (metallic). You guys across the pond must be gagging to see and sit in it (those of you that haven't yet).
It really is very, very impressive and the engine note is as you would want it - very Porsche.
As posted elsewhere, here are my quick thoughts after 1 day:
First impressions - great car!
Steering feel is excellent.
Sports Chrono
and
PASM
really sharpen it up, but "normal"
PASM
best for our lousy roads.
Engine feels much more flexible than Boxster S - even at low revs (all I could try!).
Negative point - huge blindspot in rear quarter. Had hoped that the quarterlight would help this (compared to Boxster), but it doesn't.
. . . didn't want to bore you guys with all the details!
What can I say that hasn't been said already? Well not having a Porsche background won't help in comparing to other models in the line up but who cares right?!
This car is truly planted on the road and the steering feels so tight, precise and stiff, the balance is even better than anyone can write in words and a few spirited corners put a huge smile on my face which is still there now, point to point the handling on this machine will be hard to beat for whatever money you have to throw at different sport car manufacturers and maintain full luxury as the cabin is a great place to be,
PASM
on normal mode would be enough for most on crappy roads and in Sports mode will made me laugh out loud in the twisties which here in Wales we have in abundance (full World Rally tarmac stage review once my little Seal Croc arrives), the 19's look so purposeful and the car sure is aggressive looking . . . I won't be sleeping tonight!
Got some pics with my mobile of the 'donor' car - some unlucky bugger will end up with this oneafter I thrashed it with 67 miles on the clock this afo!! 'What does it red line at again?'
One word - PERFECT!

. . . sure
The power comes in bucket loads, it's such a free reving engine and the sound is so addictive (if the US spec cars are louder than this then you'll be needing ear plugs ya all!). Off the line it's definitely head planted into the seat stuff with plenty of force and I've never jumped into a car before and got so used to a gearbox so quickly, in fact the car started to fit me like a glove within the first hour - sweet!
Once this engine has 6k miles on it and opened/losened up it will be a classic, period.

PS my dealer says I'm welcome to drive it whenever I wish until mine turns up, what a guy!
Thanks V6 TT. Thrilled that you've had a chance to drive the car and been impressed! I'm much more interested in comments and reactions from you and others than what I read in the magazines.
Hi everyone.
Thought it was about time to post to this highly informative and useful forum that I have been following.
Drove the Cayman yesterday at my local dealer. What can I say it is awesome. Sharp, precise and that extra bit of eagerness over a Boxster.
Drove one with 19' wheels and
PASM
and one with standard 18' wheels and standard suspension. Having driven back to back have definetly decided on 19' wheels with
PASM
, standard wheels and suspension felt less compliant and skittish in comparison on typical UK backroads.
PASM
was impressive.
Other observations, standard interior looks great difficult to justify the additional cost of full leather. Doesn't look a big difference especially when going for black.
Only quandry now is whether to bother with the
Sports Chrono
now I am going
PASM
.
Interesting - I reached almost the opposite conclusion about 18/19" wheels and
PASM
!
18" wheels and
PASM
give (me) excellent comfort on bumpy roads, while still being controlled. Add "sport"
PASM
on smooth roads for much sharpness!
. . . no offence guys but for such little time at the wheel you're not likely to feel much difference where the size ofwheels are concerned (discounting
PASM
here). It's really just a look thing, you'll only ever really notice on the track.
Bigger wheels (irrespective of same rolling diameter although one would assume it's slightly greater on the 19' anyways - has someone actually worked this out?) always look better.
My Croc won't be living on the track but driven hard every day.

I went with
PASM
mainly for the SOFTER setting.... And took the 19s for ego/looks. If I was going to track the car a lot I would have gone with standard supension replaced with aftermarket coil-overs for better track performance and 18s, due to tire availablity and increased feedback, even though 19" may go a little faster with a pro driver.
Well "normal"
PASM
is quite noticeably different from the "sport" setting. For most road driving so far I have preferred "normal", but once today I did find a road where the frequency of undulations made "sport" a much better setting.
Will be taking the car on track on December 17th, so will report back then!
I drove the car today. It was great, faaaantaaastic. The car had 19' wheels and
PASM
. I'm very glad I ordered the
PASM
and the
Carrera
Sport wheels. I realy was impressed./fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/drive.gif/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/dance.gif
I also received an exclusive Delvaux-Porsche necklace because I was one of the first to order a Cayman in Belgium. My dealer only 10 necklaces. He also gave me a lounge CD that was used at the
launch
of the car here in Europe. It sounds very good with the

audiosystem /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/thanks.gif/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/dance.gif
My short contribution to this discussion is simply this - I think it is nothing short of cruel and unusual punishment that
Caymans
will not arrive in Canadian dealerships until January, when we will be in the depths of winter. At that point, there will be little merit in taking one out for a test drive (assuming it is even possible). I envy those of you who have already heard that
exhaust
note!
Ramiel,
That is great news! I am glad you were awarded the neckless, you will have to get a picture of it so we can see what it looks like. For now all we can do is LOOK!
