HI all, I have a
2006 Cayman S
and the ceiling felt has come loose and is now hanging and touching the top of my head. Has anyone else ever experienced this and if so, what would the suggested course of corrective measure be? Is this something that could be a DIY project or best to bring it into a mechanic? Any suggestions would be helpful here. Thanks, J
Upholstery shop can fix it.

But would they know how to remove it from the ceiling of my car to work on it and then re-install the ceiling parts?
I think CarGuyNeil means an automotive upholsterer/trim shop and they should know how to repair a headliner - if not, walk away
It's a very common issue and an auto upholstery shop is your best solution.
It's a very common issue on the
Cayman
- I suggest a search on "headliner" might turn up some threads about it. If you want an advanced search, head over to Google and search
site: planet-9.com headliner
- it turns up pages of results from Planet-9.
I had a 2007 and have a 2014 now and both did it. I had an upholstery shop fix both of them for around $600. They matched the material and it looks great. The shop told me it’s not the glue that was bad but the foam
Porsche
uses doesn’t stand up to the heat here in Texas. The shop said the hardest part was pulling all the trim off. Another problem you may come across is the top of your door panel may pop up. the
Porsche
dealer here said it couldn’t be fixed and I’d need a new door panel at around 3 grand. There is basically nothing wrong with the door panel except the top. The same upholstery shop said the Police Ford Explorer do the same thing. They told me they repair them using windshield glue. It cost me $196.00 per side and it’s held up for over two years so try that if it happens to you.
My hatch liner fell when I had a
cayman
and I peeled the rest off and the glue they use is so sticky and hard to get off I cannot believe the liner even fell off. I went to a salvage yard and just bought a new plastic
complete surround for 70.00
Goin to scrap yard sounds like a great idea - What is a plastic complete surround?
My liner was the hatch liner and that is all plastic.. it’s just a snap in piece
