Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. With the current financial climate and people tightening their belts, is there any way of finding cancelled orders before they hit the OPC website?
My initial thoughts would that each OPC would only have cancelled cars from their showroom/dealership. Will this mean I have to contact every OPC and register my details to get the car I want?
My reasoning is that I want a high spec'd GTS with aero kit. However, the ones coming up at the moment are 'poorly' (if there is such a thing with Porsche) spec'd.
Oh, and I don't want to wait 12 months for a car as I am the worlds most impatient car shopper, hence not placing a new order.
Edited by Geoffcapes on Thursday 6th July 11:01
The only way I can think of is to phone a bunch of dealers regularly, making it clear that you're serious and will immediately buy a car that becomes available with the spec you want and that you won't try completely low balling them re the price

Already on my list.
I guess I'm being picky as I'd like Front Axle lift (loads of speed bumps where I live), rear steering and Burmeister.

Not picky, you want what you want, which is fair enough. Whether you'll get it all a car that you dont spec yourself is another matter!
I know of an unregistered Artic Grey with Burmeister, front axle lift, rear axle steering, pre-price increase. Let me know if you want putting in touch.

Yes please! Does it have the aero kit? That's a must for me!

Im looking for a GT4 if anyone knows of a new one!!
I managed to get a cancelled slot/order, purely through luck, a friend was collecting his car from the OPC and I told him to ask if they had any build slots available on short notice, had about a week to get my spec into them by end of May, for delivery within the next couple of weeks Turbo S Cab.

Might try that.

is that the new list price or old list price?
Not sure, but it’s still under list to the cost to order now, I think list is £114k there’s a link in the advert
it does, i noticed that with a few dealers especially porsche owned ones. they are charging new pricing, whereas other fancahisee dealers are charging the oringinal pre price rise price for new cars. i thought new prices come in for my 24 cars. i.e cars delivered sept onwards?! guess they cant help screwing customers over
2ono said:
MY 23, so a pre-price rise car, I think.
MY 24 builds only just started so anything built pre 24 build is a pre price rise car, but the fact it’s new irrespective if it was built a month ago it’s no different to my 24 car only in VIN!

Look at this one its priced at £171K , but on configurator price is 182.5K.
and this one
https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/porsch...
priced at £152K, but 162K on configurator.
Porsche retail group are worse than the franchisees. no wonder franchisses treat their customers so badly. real lack of intergrity in their operation. must be feeling the pinch already

You can have this one at the correct MY23 price.

Have these opc been colouring the truth for some time? Considering it’s meant to be peak car buying season and a few months back many were told they have to wait a very long time for any porsche, yet brand new cars are now getting uploaded for sale on the Uk porsche site.
Makes zero sense to me.

Yes - possibly someone has been overzealous (honest) about the actual stock of cars on hand - let’s see if it drops over the next few days.
Over 150 new showing nationally, though many dealerships show none or one or two which doesn’t seem realistic in light of above.

A quick Google says Porsche GB sold 5000 Taycan’s last year…just under a 1/3 of sales….so roughly 10 a month per OPC. I guess you can easily see a dealer not hitting those numbers for the last three or four months and having quite a few “parked out the back”
couple of things at play here :
1. EV sales rate has peaked and subsequently declined as early adoptors of new tech and benefit in kind tax advantages have already bought leaving retail customers who have less interest in EVs
2. Energy prices are up
3. Tesla disrupting market with price reductions crashing residuals
4. Porsche customers buy on finance and high interests
all making the perfect storm.
Discounting by OPCs to follow and the vicious circle of decline begins
elisered said:

Wolves, i noticed that yesterday. They are leading the chart with 29 new cars listed as well.
Guess now overs markets going down so quickly they cant con people into buying cars with promise of allocations.
Even though markets turned Porsche are still going to want you reach those high targets you set when times are good lol.
Couldnt happen to a better OPC and DP.
Im sure their sales manager will be along shortly to tell you how great an OPC they are.

All very good points, one thing I would add is manufacturers are now starting to set very low future values after 3 years. Porsche tycan looses about 30% in the first 12 months!
Remember these porsche dealers still need to take their allocations from porsche even if they have a buyer or not.

Well at least this opc is being honest what stock they have, many control what you can actually see on their web site to make it look like supply is limited.

AV185 is cashing out of some of his current fleet. He’s sold his gt3 for a nice profit and will now look to sell his gt4 for a profit. Be interesting how wild he goes spec wise with his new 992 gt3 which must be due very shortly.

Also, if you view the amount of cars listed sub 500 miles (most of which will be pre reg) there are loads more. I counted about 40 sub 500 mile 911s alone. Plus the new cars, plus the cars which are not currently listed. Scary how many cars are sitting about.

Very good point, I didn’t consider all the pre reg cars.
Interesting to read it could appear certain opc are now trying to sell new pre price increase cars at over their original rrp.
I was under the impression they weren’t allowed to do this in the Uk?
If correct it sounds like profiteering at its finest.

Believe they get around it by having a previous owner, so unlikely it will be pre-reg cars listed at overs.
Unsure about how they price pre-reg vehicles that were before the price increased. Perhaps they can inflate to the level of what someone would currently pay?

Sadly thats an entirely incorrect viewpoint, presumably all Porsche order forms will have similar terms, mine contained:
12.1 (i) and you have paid the Price or made part payment towards the Price, we shall retain possession of the Vehicle and resell it at auction or otherwise as we see fit and refund to you any sums paid toward the Price less any deposits paid, any storage costs and any loss, damage or expenses incurred by us (including as a result of selling the Vehicle at a lower value) arising from your failure to comply with the terms of the Agreement. If our loss, damage and/or expenses are greater than the sums paid by you towards the Price, then we will issue an invoice to you for payment of the additional amount, with such additional amount to be payable by you to us within fourteen (14) days of the date of invoice.
So walking away, unless its a very desirable model, your dealer is feeling particularly benevolent, or unless you remotely purchased a non spec changeable car, is very likely to cost at least your deposit.

in 2019, cayenne coupe s ordered to my spec. it was at dealers and i no longer wanted and got full refund of 3k deposit.
Have a friend who cancelled his car sat at dealer last month. taycan turbo ct . his financials has changed due to downturn and because of rate increases and could no longer afford it. got fully refund of 5k.
id recommend people who getting held to getting held to ransom over deposit to not visit the centre to make payment for car and get it delivered and return under distance selling regs for full refund. lots of info on line regards distance selling on cars.

I don't see how if the sale price and or the finance terms have changed since you placed your order/deposit that they can hold you to the order, otherwise it would be a free for all, consumers would be held to ransom on just about everything that wasn't in stock.
The consumer can't force the dealer to keep to the original terms but I also say that works for the consumer the other way on the new terms.

The price is fixed from spec lock
I've been chasing my salesman to confirm the price of the GTS I ordered in December at £114800 for the basic car. He's finally just come back with this;
They can add another cancellation to the list.
Price protection my ass. I just wanted the product at the agreed price. I'm angry and a bit crestfallen at the same time. I've been counting the months to this car. This was a keeper and I've been saving up to buy this outright. Feck 'em.

That’s one hell of a jump on the base price of a GTS!
Give them the option, you take it at the ordered base price of £114800 if not you will cancel.
Looking at the 100 new unwanted 992 for sale you can’t be alone with how you feel.

If an OPC actually pursued losses against someone who cancelled their order imagine what the implications are of the perception of the business. The contract will have clauses in it allowing the dealer to cancel e.g. model suddenly discontinued....I have absolutely no idea but are contracts so one sided actually enforceable ?
Looking at the distance selling regulations that contract is clearly not legally enforceable if they apply.

I would think the OPC took your deposit last December before they had an allocation. You would have been on a list of purchasers awaiting allocations. When the OPC has an allocation my understanding is they can fix the price and if you take finance that finance rate as well.
My OPC won't take a deposit until they have an allocation they can give me. I ordered my GT3 in June 22 for delivery Oct 22. The manufacture and delivery was delayed and the car arrived at the end of Jan 23, I had the car PPF'd and took delivery on Mar 2nd. There had been a price rise and also a considerable finance rate increase but I paid the quoted price and got the finance at the quoted rate.
I don't think an OPC would get an allocation 12 months in advance of build.

I’d go in and specify it in the s
test most undesirable way you could. Then tell em to eff off and leave them stuck with a difficult car to sell.

I feel sorry for you, but an order is only an order when you are offered an allocation of a specific build slot and you then agree that final spec and price at that point. That's the point at which a contract is created.
Anything before that is simply placing a deposit in order to be offered a build slot at some point in the future.
The problem is that this is likely not well explained at the start and in more normal times is not an issue, as the time to await allocation is shorter and annual price rises smaller.
To be pedantic you are not cancelling an order, as you never actually had one, as no car has been built for you, or even specced to be built. The current cancelled orders are cars that are specced to a customer, built for them and cancelled prior to or upon arrival. This includes people who are getting declined for finance and cannot complete on the purchase, which is a growing problem.

At which point they have the full legal right to sue the contracted buyer for losses incurred in the event of a sale below the agreed price. Not a great plan.

Do it all remotely, and one has 14 days after taking delivery to change one's mind. Toyota explain this in their online ordering process for the GR86- kudos to them.

I think you're spot on here. I ordered in Dec 2022, and was told delivery April 2024. I assumed, wrongly it seems, at the price stated and the delivery date stated. 16 months for a commodity catalogue item off a production line is a long wait indeed.
I've followed the various threads on here with people saying they're seeing the various build status' on the MyPork app, and I had nothing. I had an email from Pork GB at the beginning of August congratulating me on 'ordering my new 911'
Whilst first world problems and all that, I'm quite cross at the way Pork do this. I can see the general malcontent from others on this thread and the loads of Pork available now one.
I don't *need* another car. I won't be buying this one, or another new one from Pork for the foreseeable.
Even if you have ordered and specced your car and have an expected build date that does not lock the price in. Price rises are based on manufacturing week's....you may hear your OPC referring to your car as a "Week 34" car or similar. Technically your car's price is not locked until it is complete and deemed to have left the factory. If an OPC honours a lower price that is down to them but with the size of price rises that we have seen they won't be doing that.

PH, 'cos pendantry matters.
You're right however. When I look at all of the paperwork, alI I did was place an order for a vehicle to be manufactured. They didn't have one waiting or scheduled for me. The annoying thing is they said Apr 2024, and the price on the paperwork for the basic car was £114800. I expected, possibly naively, to turn up in April next year with the £115K + options and drive away in my new car. It was not explained it would be any different.
As per the other thread, I feel it's is somewhere between deceitful and fraudulent for them to say at the final spec, oh, it's now another £10K or whatever with no prior notice. I can't think any other purchase that would be like this, unless you accepted an estimate or cost plus arrangement. The 'order' was in no way described in this way. They then use weasel words to mitigate their actions by saying that on the order form in the small print it states "Taxation and manufacturer list pricing may be subject to change".
Again, as per the other thread, when times were good and finance rates were low they made this work for a decade and developed a superlative product. There's a very bleaker looking decade coming though.
I'll get over it. As per last response, this was a discretionary purchase to which I'd really been looking forward to, as I've never had a 911. (Crikey, saying that on here is like saying you've never seen Star Wars!). I have a couple of Italian V12s from both manufacturers, which I've had for years. The Maranello based one keeps in touch, although I haven't bought a car from them in nearly a decade. When we last spoke, he did mention a GTS model of theirs for which there's a cancelled order and a deal could be had. This was much earlier in the month however, and it's almost twice the cost of the 992. I had put it out of my mind until today. Again, as per the other thread, there's a difference between manufacturers employing order takers and proper sale people.
Let me stay cross for a bit.

I get that now, but they don't say that when you place the 'order'!
It wasn't like this when we bought our Cayenne V8Ds was it ?!

No, not quite correct. Nor was my earlier post.
You can put a deposit down, or 'place an order' with a dealer but without an allocation [built slot] it means little.
Once they have a confirmed build slot / allocation you can then spec the car and the price is fixed from that point.

I would personally ask for a refund of the deposit you've placed with your dealership, then jump onto the Porsche Website and New Stock locater and see if you can purchase a higher spec physical vehicle for the price you'd originally placed.
I'm sure a client who's got cash in his pocket with stock increasing daily would be a good option.
I would suggest you will get some no's but then eventually a yes!

Sounds like you 'ordered' your GTS just before me. There's a lot of smoke and mirrors surrounding the purchasing process for limited production/highly desirable vehicles - same with Mercedes for their 'boutique' cars. It's all boll***s but you do have to play the game and that's what it is.
5k down is the cost of your invitation to get on the allocation list. Allocation and build date are given and then it's time to 'do the dance' before signing the final order. It's always been the same - certainly pre-pandemic where I've managed to get 5 - 7% off, even on a factory order. Even better when there was plenty of stock available and you could play OPCs off against each other. It appears those days are back so I'm viewing my final spec meeting later this week as an opportunity! No way am I paying 142k for a reasonably specced GTS. And as for 12% APR, that's a joke! If nothing is forthcoming I'll walk. May leave my 5k in place for 992.2 by which time Porsche AG may have woken up to the fact that their attempt to profiteer in the middle of a global downturn may not have been a good idea after all. We shall see.
74 unregistered 992s, 380 Taycans, etc. I feel like order has been restored to the faithful!

If you were the salesman I would hope you'd have been slightly more diplomatic about fleecing a customer by a further £8k on the base price, than the person who sent that email.
Is it an institutional arrogance across the company? I'm not a Porsche customer but reading some of the experiences of people on various threads does seem to suggest so.

Problem is they have had it good for a number of years, many who now work for porsche wouldn’t know any different.
Be interesting to see if dealerships have another shift of staff sales when the going gets tuff!
Porcshe uk and Germany will turn the pressure up if this dealerships do t sell units in the volumes head office want.
Sadly the brand is not what it was.

I had a very pleasant email from him acknowledging the cancellation & saying he'll process the deposit refund. I responded in a similar way thanking him and the dealership for their support along the way, and saying it was nothing personal and I understood that the price increases were driven from Porsche, and it was that which I found unacceptable.
Then this afternoon, an invite for the new Cayenne launch in a couple of weeks.
I currently have a Cayenne V8D.
The OPC refunded my deposit in full.
When I initially said I was cancelling the order they tried to justify and normalise the price increase by pointing out weasely words in the order/contract such as "Taxation and manufacturer list pricing may be subject to change".
When reading through the several slightly different orders/contracts they sent me I spotted this buried in there;
I was half expecting this to be deducted from my deposit, as I had done the PEC a few weeks ago, and that was where I first learnt that my order would be subject to price increases.
If they had deducted it, I would have felt further aggrieved by the brand. As it is I would happily still buy a 992, as I still think it's a great product. I think my purchase will be a nearly new/pre-reg rather than new vehicle order, and for a lot less cash than I was going to be spending.
I had a visit to the PEC too then cancelled my order when not only the continued price increases kept being added but the finance rate doubled.
No discussion on the cost of the PEC at all - I could see it was a bother to them, and a short while later I did go back and buy a Macan instead.

PEC ??
Dealer called me today to say they'd had a cancelled December build slot which I could switch my order to. So instead of waiting until summer 2024, I would get the car in Q1.
Given how close we must be to the 992.2, I'm more inclined to say no and wait. But then I can't be the only one thinking like this, so perhaps there's a deal to be done? As in some sort of discount.
Thoughts?

If you’re worried about future values a higher levels of deprecation it may pay to wait for the 992.2.
If it’s the car you always wanted go for it.

992.2 deliveries still a long way off and keep getting pushed out from what I’ve heard. Most likely early 25, longer for more interesting variants, which is why I decided to proceed with my Oct allocation. Also, got a few grand knocked off even though most OPCs are still playing hardball.
992.2 will almost certainly see another price hike. Yep, even in this current climate!

What have you ordered? Unless it’s a model that’s likely to be discontinued or you want a unicorn spec that’s unlikely to be replicable in 992.2, I’d wait.
Although as others have said, you can wait forever.
At least the existing model is now well proven technology and in recent years the latest technology has often been a mixed blessing ... IMHO.
The new models are most likely to be hybrid ready ... if not hybrid ??

I’ve ordered a GTS. So I appreciate that the GTS most likely won’t be available with the 992.2 for a while. But I had a similar dilemma with the 991.1 vs 991.2 and was glad I held out for the newer model.
Agree that the 992.2 could feel like a backward step in some areas (but I worried about the same thing with the 991.2 and the turbo engine).
It’s a dilemma.
In my experience, when this all started with the Boxsters and 996s, the .2 of each generation has been a carefully judged improvement over the outgoing .1 model
Yes they used to be ... more recently many enhancements seem to augment technology that adds little to the driver experience but adds complication and potential cost to long term ownership.
As you say, not an easy but a personal choice ...

Thanks for the replies. Yes, a tricky one. I think I'm going to wait.
I had to decide whether to wait for the 992.2 too, when my allocation finally came through. In the end I took my build slot. I’m mindful the next iteration will have another price increase and I also managed to get some money off - they wanted to charge the MY 24 price even though I’d ordered 18 months ago. With some discussion, I got a few k off. You could try the same.
