Luckily, the damage is hidden under the seal when the door is closed so hopefully not an urgent repair but has anyone changed a door glass before on a 996, can I do it?

Got to work this morning and got my bag from the passenger seat, as I opened the door from the outside, I caught my watch on the top of the window and knocked chunks out of it! (The window, fortunately the watch is ok!) I have removed a piece 3inches long about 3mm deep. Luckily, the damage is hidden under the seal when the door is closed so hopefully not an urgent repair but has anyone changed a door glass before on a 996, can I do it? What does a glass cost?

I was going to replace a winder motor until I found out that there are several adjusters on the windows to make them close and fit flush to the frame. got my indy to do it for me in case i c****d it up. TB

The glass clamps to the window regulator sliders. You have to take off the door trim to get at the clamps. It isn't rocket science, but it is a bit fiddly to get it lined up and adjusted correctly. The windows are £90.55 each inc VAT.

The very same thing happend to someone i know getting out of his Maserati Gran Turismo he caught his Audemars Piguet bezel on the side window and it shattered i think his insurance coverd it but am not 100% on this

If you dont mind tackling it yourself, at £90 or so, (also minus 10% PCGB discount) will bring to around ~£80. Most windscreen excess will be around £50-80 and not all of them use Porsche glass... add that to the hassle of getting the insurer to sort it, it may not be viable using the insurance route...
