No need to disconnect the battery when removing the cluster just do not have the key in the ignition during disconneting and reconnecting the Grey, White and the Blue multi connectors at the rear.

To stop the alarm going off when you disconnect the battery, switch on the ignition, but don't start the engine, before you remove the -ve terminal of the battery.

Hi All I recently asked for advice on how to remove instrument cluster for bulb change - thanks for advice. It is only now that I have the time to tackle the job. However when I disconnect the battery the alarm goes off for 30 seconds or so. After a short pause it kicks off again. I don't have a manual to look for advice either. Can someone advise please. Also, the oil gauge on my car shoots straight to the top of the scale when the car is started and stays there without moving. When the engine is switched off it returns to rest. Again, any advice would be welcome. Thanks

No need to disconnect the battery when removing the cluster just do not have the key in the ignition during disconneting and reconnecting the Grey, White and the Blue multi connectors at the rear. Sounds like an oil pressure switch fault, could be a simple connection failure so disconnect, clean up terminals and reconnect.

To stop the alarm going off when you disconnect the battery, switch on the ignition, but don't start the engine, before you remove the -ve terminal of the battery. Leave the key in that position until you reconnect. Look down the right hand side of the engine compartment, about half way along the top of the cylinder head, and you will see the oil pressure switch pointing vertically upwards. There are two spade terminals on the top. As Lloyd says, check them first.
