Hell, I know I overpaid for the car, basically full retail, but it was the nicest car that I could find.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking at a 2002 C2 cab, 33k miles, artic silver over black, 18" 993 Turbo style rims, heated seats, clean carfax, still has a year of Porsche Certified Preowned warranty from the dealer ... this is private party sale. What's a good number on the car? How hard is it to find a hardtop for these cars?

POST 2Original post

With out a lot of experience I would guess between 40-47k

POST 3Original post

Auction prices are around $38K so that should give you some sense of the amount the seller has been offered at trade-in. A dealer who purchased from the Auction would probably offer the car around $47,900 and sell around $45K depending on how long they have had it and time of year. If the seller is in Boston it is probably not a great time of year to sell a cab so if the seller is motivated they would probably take in the low to mid 40's. Hardtops can be found by calling around to dealers. You might have to get a color that doesn't match and have it painted but they will probably be priced in the $500-$1,000. Good luck.

POST 4Original post

Just bought a ok one for 40k but it will need some work,1500 or so.

POST 5Original post

Auction prices are around $38K is low. man. our be-loved(hopefully) 996 price is dropping like stone. i think now for the same milage and condition, 3.4 996 price is a little lower than 993, close to G50 911.

POST 6Original post

If you look at the Auction prices of a 98 993 and an 02 996 they are about the same. 99 996s are in the mid to upper 20's. Definitely more love for the air cooled 993s. To each his own.

POST 7Original post

There are a lot less 993s available for sale than the 996s, so prices will reflect accordingly. I love owning and driving mine, so that's all that matters to me. If I'm not selling, then I don't care what it's worth on the market. I'd guess a low-mileage, CPO'ed '02 Cab should probably fetch mid-$40s easily.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Interesting point, as I am also considering a 97 C2 cab with more miles (58k) but for less money. Both cars are attractively priced; I suppose it's inevitable that the 996 will depreciate farther than the 993. However, the year left on the CPO warranty is also an incentive. Hmmm ...

POST 9Original post

I've owned both a 993 and 996 and they are drastically different beasts. I like the 993 styling but really appreciated the additional refinement of the 996. I am presently looking for another 996.

POST 12Original post

While it sucks to see the prices where they are, I totally agree with Charlie on this one. I really could give a flying crap what the car is worth right now since I don't ever plan to sell ANY of my cars! I love them, love to drive them, and love to own them.

POST 13Original post

The only good news on the dropping prices is that it won't be as expensive to upgrade. I will be waiting until sometime next year, but I plan on moving into a 2002 or later car. I would love to compile as many vehicles as Dell, but I don't have the room. We had four but are down to three and that's all I can fit.

POST 14Original post

Simple solution.......I store one of my cars (the Z) in my enclosed trailer unless it is being used to transport my GT3 to the track! It's like a mobile garage. I admit, though, if I could I would have a 10 car garage

POST 15Original post

I bought mine in July for $49.5K with just under 20K miles. The price is a little on the high side but the car is ultra clean - no chips, dings, scratches. Everything is outrageously tight - steering, shifter, overall feel of the car and all moving parts. Paint is flawless and was well maintained. Options are mostly vanity based (which I like) red belts, red console, crests in headrests. Also, the car was delivered originally with 3pc 18" OZ wheels. No PSM, base audio system, std perf leather. There aren't a lot of them around so supply and demand rules the pricing in these parts. The car had no problematic history or weird issues and had no RMS issues (until I got it and the leak started after my first autocross...go figure!). I got an extended warranty through the dealer and it paid for itself with the RMS repair. The car was purchased from a high line used car dealership in the area that sells used Merc, BMW, Infinity, Porsche, Lexus. I believe the car came from a dealer in Chapel Hill.

POST 16Original post

In late Oct. I bought a Seal Grey 2002 C2 Coupe w/ 36000k for 42,500.....good options, sport seats, full leather, techniks pkg, 18 turbos, psm, complete records, etc.....had just what I wanted...listed for a little over 82k new. I had just a few months left on the original warranty.....it had a RMS and oil separator replaced at dealer after I got it.....needs rubber but that is it....should be a decent benchmark as I looked for a long time....car had been owned by an good owner who traded it in on an S

POST 17Original post

My '02 Cab that I bought in August (I think) w/24K and more options and less miles and longer CPO warranty and newish tires and absolutely pristine and tight and wonderful... was a heck of a lot more than mid-40s. Try low fifties. Hell, I know I overpaid for the car, basically full retail, but it was the nicest car that I could find. And I like it. If it's a nice car and what you want and you can get it for mid/upper 40's, I think you'd be doing good. Michael
