Suggestion

It's too tight to get a 3/8 torque wrench in there with a T50 bit, but I managed to get a 3/8 ratchet in there and then used an extension to tighten the bolt.

I could have used a third hand to hold breaker bar on the belt tensioner while I put the belt back in place.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Greetings All. Getting ready to r&r the water pump , thermostat and the various pulleys/ tensioner/ serpentine belt as needed on my M97 2.7. Seems that the decently priced water pump with a plastic/ composite pulley for those engines is the Laso brand, made in Germany and also used in some other P cars. Heck, it may even be offered in a LN Engineering kit . Would like to hear from those folks who have used one of those on their 987. Thanks in advance

POST 2Original post

I'm currently waiting for my pump replacement kit from LN for my 987.2 S. I have removed the failed pump, but still have the thermostat to remove. I have also ordered the Schwaben vacuum lift refill tool and a few other tools.

POST 3Original post

Guess I will be my own guinea pig and find out , at least in the short term. The Lasco wp and all the other items are on their way and will have a comparison of the wp's/ impellers between the old original and the Lasco. Will def. post some pics

POST 4Original post

Fitted everything up today. Now waiting for the coolant and going out for distilled water tomorrow. I got most of the bolts properly torqued with a 1/4 inch torque wrench. I believe there were two bolts that I had to guesstimate the torque since the space was too tight for the torque wrench. I also bought the Schwaben vacuum lift tool and connected it to my 120 psi 0.7 scfm compressor but it only pulled -10 inHg. Fortunately I have a 20 year old medical suction pump and once I connected it to the Schwaben it pulled -25 inHg. The system held pressure for 15 minutes without any measurable loss in vacuum. Accèss is tight in some areas, but my biggest difficulty was installing the belt. I could have used a third hand to hold breaker bar on the belt tensioner while I put the belt back in place. One other issue is the lower tensioner bolt. It's too tight to get a 3/8 torque wrench in there with a T50 bit, but I managed to get a 3/8 ratchet in there and then used an extension to tighten the bolt. One tool that really helped was a 1/4 2" wobble extension. Oh and another tool an E Torx 10 universal.
