) I found this hanging near the Home Link and outside temperature probe. Any idea what it is and how to replace it? Would appreciate the help but more so to know where to look this type of info up. It is wired with the same wiring harness as the Homelink which is just hanging in the number. bumper. NEW to

. Thank you for the help.
Welcome!!! I just
joined
last week myself (and bought 12 days ago) and new to Porsche as well - have no idea and my "dumb / ignorant" guess is headlight washer perhaps???
By the way, how dirty was the radiator(s) and did you remove to clean?
For now, I just used shop vac (air in both directions) to remove 99% of debris / leaves (was a FL car so very clean for a 18 yr old car) but wasn't sure about the radiators - at least the front one looked clean. Will definitely remove and clean in the future as I have a long list of to dos.
Thank you for the reply. I don’t think it’s headlight washer as they seem to be controlled elsewhere. I did wonder if it could have something to do with automatic wipers for the windshield. I hope we can get recommendations of which shop manuals to purchase online. I’m used to having a book, but it appears that online will be the only way to move forward with these vehicles.
Which ones are the most helpful for the DIYer I wonder?
Hope to get a recommendation so I can determine what this is and put the front bumper back on. I separated the radiators and vacuumed the minor build of of debris.
For what it is worth, take a look at the attachment. I was looking for something in the manual (I have 2005 so yours is probably different) and I randomly opened this page.
@Chip Jennings
- this is not a new member introduction. It's a technical question. It belongs in one of the tech areas of the forum. It's being moved. We'd love to see your new member introduction.
As far as what on-line service to get for documentation - there really is only one worth considering - AllDataDIY. They aren't cheap, but there is a discount code that gets you 3 years subscription for a decent price. I posted it some time ago - a search might just turn it up.
Meanwhile - this thread is on the move.. hang on, and keep your hands and feet inside the thread for your safety and protection!
I know this one! I just finished troubleshooting it on my own 2005

It's the electrical connection to the secondary front trunk safety release. Looks like yours got yanked out by force instead of being unplugged normally. The part with the red and brown wires is supposed to unsnap from the remaining part, which broke off from the solenoid it controls.
Background: There's a glow-in-the-dark safety handle inside your front trunk. Pulling the handle activates two electrical solenoids to pop the hood open, releasing a trapped occupant. Why two? One solenoid pulls the "normal" trunk release (same as the switch by the driver's door sill) and one pulls the secondary "safety" release (the latch with the red handle that you normally reach under the hood to access).
Interesting. Does that mean that the emergency frunk release won't work if the battery is low or disconnected? Seems like a TERRIBLE design for an "emergency" device... as a dead battery would keep you locked in!
Yup. The system is entirely electrical, not mechanical. So, don’t climb into the frunk (or rear trunk) with the battery disconnected!
My guess — and this is just wild speculation — is that the federal safety law governing emergency trunk releases is intended to prevent kidnapping, and if so, it only really needs to work when the car is running. Still, it would be nice if it worked all the time, just in case.
