Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Will get it checked over this week to see how much charge its got.
Leading evidence: 'Check over this week' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check over this week' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

There's also a drier that needs to be changed - its adjacent to the batery.

Suggestion
Noisy, as in engine running, turn AC on, hear clutch activate and hear compressor over the noise of the engine running - kind or noisy!

Anyone used a mobile air con service, or recomendation for someone in the Fleet/Farnborough/Aldershot area?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After washing it this afternoon and taking it for a short run to get the brakes dry I noticed that the air con did not work, even when set to Lo.
Took the 911 out today for the first time in about a month early this morning down to Goodwood.
After washing it this afternoon and taking it for a short run to get the brakes dry I noticed that the air con did not work, even when set to Lo. This morning I had not noticed as it was too cold to cut in.
When I last used it on a hot day (about a month ago) I remember that it took about 10 minutes before cold air came out, but it then went very cold.
Any ideas? Is this a symptom of low gas or just lack of use?
I looked at the condensors and one is perfect , the other (N/S) has a very slight discolouration but no obvious leak. Assume they are covered by the OPC warranty.

Dare I say but Kwik-fit are good for re-gassing because if it leaks out they will give you your money back :thumb:
If the pressure has dropped down the clutch pulley on the condenser won't kick in a start spinning.
Re-gas it & go from there
If the discolouration looks like balck oil then the chances are that the condenser has failed. If you re-charge it'll work for a short while. The job is not that difficult once you've got the fron PU off. There's also a drier that needs to be changed - its adjacent to the batery.
Behr make the oriinal condenser, just google the OPC part number and the suppliers can be easily found. Alternatively there are third part patterns available. Be sure to get the right parts for your car as they're not all the same. Kwikfit can provide a regassing service once the condensors are replaced.

Thanks everyone,
Will get it checked over this week to see how much charge its got. I'm hoping a re gas will keep it going until its back in for a service so the OPC can fix it under wararanty.
Another possible related symptom is a clicking noise coming from behind the dash when I get in the car sometimes, and sometimes after I stop.
Hi,
I'm in the same boat, almost.. My air con still works but makes a groaning noise...The compressor still runs, but very noisey. If it's true that the clutch wont ingage if if has leaked (loss of pressure) I'm confussed.
I was assuming my noise was caused by the fact the gas/lubricant had leaked?
I'm not wanting to crash your thread, it was when you mentioned the clicking noise from behind the dash, when you start or stop. I also have that (sometimes) but assumed it was the CD mechanisim in the PCM2? have you tired teasing the PCM with a CD (hold it half in) does it make the same clicking noise?.
Regards
Jim.
It is easy to be confused whether a condensor is spinning or not.
The pulley will spin all the time but it is the clutch in the centre of the pulley that also needs to spin with AC on and stop when AC off.
A noisey condensor depends on how loud the noise, could be low fluid, clutch bearing or worse, the condensor shaft.
Noisy, as in engine running, turn AC on, hear clutch activate and hear compressor over the noise of the engine running - kind or noisy!
anyone else have the clicking noise? Is it linked to the AC issue from the OP?
OK, car now regassed, only had 200g in it. Aircon now working fine, no leaks detected by machine.
Also so far no further clicking noise.
Initially I too had put this fast clicking sound down to the CD drive in the PCM2 but I worked out I had the noise even when the PCM was switched off - can the CD still be active when its turned off by the front panel ? Noise appeared to come from behind the central events.
I'll try the teasing test to see if it makse the same noise. I'd describe the sound like a relay switching at about 10hz.
Yes, thats the noise, exactly as you describe. Even when the thing is turned off. It's like it's trying (but failing) to eject the CD. Maybe there is a CD present/eject sensor, or trip switch thats fouled? Does anyone know? :dont know:
Lloyd, sorry to correct you mate but the Condenser has no moving parts, it's basically a heat exchanger at the front of the car (2 of them) rejects heat from the refrigerant to the environment. I think you're talking about the compressor......................
