To all:
I've only had my CS for about a month but have run into a quirk with auto climate--How do I turn it off? The only way I do not get auto climate is if I turn on one of the fans. Then, it turns off. However, is there a way to turn it off without having a fan on? I'm wondering if something is wrong with mine?
Many thanks.
Barry
Did you read page 134 of the owners manual or does that not help?
SF--Page 134 (in my owner's manual) is about the Basic Setting on on-board computer--Is that what you meant?
Barry
No, I'm referring to the '06 manual that is in PDF fromat here. Do you have an '07 with a different manual (it also is here as well).
SF--YES! The '06 and '07 manuals are different. (I have an 07 CS). As you suggested, I went to the 06 manual and on p. 134 (exactly as you said) it states clearly to press the "ECO" button to turn off auto climate. Worked like a charm.
Thanks very much!

Another way I found to turn off Auto is to use the recirculate button. However, I actually wish I could have Auto mode with Recirculate.
I wish I could have Auto with the Eco mode. I dont like it having to use the AC compressor even while heating.
Eco mode is still Auto as far as I can tell (if you have fully automatic climate control) - it's just that the air-con compressor is not operating. Hence, it's only really useful in cold weather.
I have my air-con set to Auto all the time - in the Summer and the Winter. It hardly makes any difference to the fuel economy.
Evoke is correct. With ECO on, all other aspects of Auto still work, within the systems abilities of course, it can't easily cool the car below the outside temp without the compressor.
Try turning the fan to the absolute lowest setting. Once you get there, the whole system will shut off.
Yes. Turn the fan all the way down. Release. Then tap again and you will get "off" in the display.
Combo
Press the RECIRC button first, then the ECON button.
anyway to turn the system off without pushing the button a few times to lower the fan speed?
No, that's how you do it - its even described in the manual that this is the way to shut the system off. If all you want to do is shut off the compressor, then use the ECO button.
