Suggestion

Their PASM compliant set in Europe actually consists of new struts and double springs, they are what RSR911 uses on their Cayman GT.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I now have race pads and tyres, am getting a track alignment done this week and am also considering lowering my Cayman. I don't have PASM, so my car sits awfully high. I am not going to muck with shockers - I just want to lower the car for visual reasons. if I get an improved ride at the track then thats a bonus. I have read a few throeads on this topic - but was wondering if there was any updated information on this? So can somebody help me please... - What options are available? (Height, brands for springs etc). - How much labour is typically involved? What will springs cost? - Are there any adverse affects to handling? Any other advice? Thanks in anticipation ;-) DT

The dealer had a demo model herelowered by 30mm.Which is a fair amount esp compared to the Porsche offering of only 10mm. It cost them AUD$1500 for the mod. I think they only changed the springs. Thats all I know about it. I dont fancy theadded headaches of speed bumps and the like.

POST 4Original post

I just had a chat with Weltmeister ( http://www.weltmeister.com.au ) who happen to be 3 doors away from my office. They have Cargraphic lowering springs specifically designed for Cayman S due in two weeks. The guy I spoke with believes that fitting lowering springs will have the single most benificial impact on handling. He said don't worry about shockers or other handling mods, just fit the springs. He mentioned that while the Cayman handles incredibly well, it could be much better. He said on trips to the factory in Germany it seems apparent that Porsche don't want to offer a sports suspension option for ther Cayman because it is already too close to 911 on nurburgring. Same goes for LSD. He believes that lowering springs will make a noticable difference to turn in. Can anyone out there who has done this concur? I also heard that John Bowe has had his Cayman lowered, but he didn't want to go 35mm so he had his springs sent away by Porsche to be reset, then reinstalled for a 20mm lower ride.

POST 5Original post

I had eibach springs put in a week ago and WOW! what a differance. Highly recomend it, the springs and labor totaled $575.00. I had it done at the eibach factor in Corona, California.

POST 7Original post

3rdclas - that is an excellent price. the only reason i cannot lower my Cayman is that i live on a hill and my driveway is too steep. i barely make the climb now as it is by approaching at an severe angle. and besides, my better half would never agree to selling the house to accomondate a Porsche. go figure...

POST 8Original post

Where do you get Eibach or H&R springs from? I tried looking of TR but they don't have 'em listed for the Cayman but they do for other cars.

POST 9Original post

3rdclas....Eibach must have been feeling very generous when they did your cayman. the springs themselves retail for around 500 an labor can be between 3-500 due to the complexity of doing the rear install. Maybe they have it down to a science after doing a few, sounds like a promotional deal to me. The Eibachs and H&R are available...there are a few of us that have them. keep looking, check the sponsors. oh, and dont count on a deal like 3rdclas got...

POST 10Original post

I'm not sure on other cost for the Eibach springs, I'm a member of PCA Zone 8 and we had a tour set up with the factory, We were told the springs would retail for $350.00 - $400.00. You can go to www.Eibach.com .Pro-kit, then enter Make and modle. (Turn up speakers,Great sounding website)

POST 11Original post

I can't seem to find the location on the website to enter your make and model car...

POST 12Original post

Sorry, it's under 'applications' at bottom left side.

POST 13Original post

found it. 3rdclass, do you have any before and after pics you could post of your cayman?

POST 14Original post

Are they going to offer a PASM compliant set as well? Their PASM compliant set in Europe actually consists of new struts and double springs, they are what RSR911 uses on their Cayman GT.

POST 15Original post

Would you say $900 is a good deal on lowering a cayman?

POST 16Original post

$900 sounds like a pretty good deal for getting your Cayman lowered. If you go with spring from H&R they are going to run you $315 - $350 alone. The other $600 for labor is great. I had my CS done last month and it ran $1600+ for the Springs and labor.....

POST 17Original post

I would say Eibech and H&R. Better handling and stance. 2 hrs each rear and one each front plus alignment.
