hi ive just got my 996 t plate cabrio and on the first day the hood cover seemed to not sit flush on one side. on futher inspection i found that the hinge mecanism on the passenger side had snapped. does anyone know if this is a common problem and how i can go about sourcing this part to replace it. many thanks.

how wierd. I've just taken mine out and exactly the same thing had happened . The front one of the two cover support brackets had just snapped. I'd like to know if the part can be replaced as arepair. It looks like both the top and bottom units will need to be replaced. Anyone else had this happen and what was the outcome. As its nearly October there's no panic! Oh incientally all this bracket seems to do is opertate a little flap and guide the bar onto which the lower hook clamps. I managed to get it to go flush by lifting the flap manually from inside the car and guiding the cover down. This works hood up or down but is a real time consuming fiddle and once you've done it just leave it till you get it repaired. Someone must have had this happen and got it fixed??

Cabrio hood hinge Just been to the OPC (Byfleet) The complete passenger side hinge needs to be replaced but its not as bad as it sounds. The hinge is £105 and they recon on an hour to fit and adjust it. It comes in grey primer so they "blow it over" in colour before fitting. All in all about £250 in total inc Vat.

just got car back from opc with hinge replaced . All fine and working as before £290 inc VAT so could have been worse.
