so the manual tells me that when checking the hydraulic fluid level, the engine should be off and cold and the level should be below the 'cold' mark..well i havent driven her for almost two weeks and checked the power steering fluid today and the whole stick seems to be covered in the fluid!!

The best thing to do at this stage would be to clean the Pentosin off the whole dipstick and then recheck both cold and hot levels.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hi guys so the manual tells me that when checking the hydraulic fluid level, the engine should be off and cold and the level should be below the 'cold' mark..well i havent driven her for almost two weeks and checked the power steering fluid today and the whole stick seems to be covered in the fluid!! the 'cold' mark is way down the bottom of the stick so the reading is way above the mark it should be right?

POST 2Original post

Power steering fluid The best thing to do at this stage would be to clean the Pentosin off the whole dipstick and then recheck both cold and hot levels. Sometimes harsh braking, cornering or even a speed bump can splash it up and due to the design, the fluid tends to stay on the ridges.
