Suggestion

Sounds to me like you are trying to get the dealer to repair something that is obviously not a warrantable claim and hoping for somebody here to say something that you can run back to the dealer with and try to put them in their place.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

took my car to jack daniels porsche in fairlawn new jersey they refused to change lower tie rods under warrenty and my fix my heated seat , can anyone help me

POST 2Original post

have you tried "warranty" work instead? Just kidding, all jokes aside. We need a bit more info about your car: Year In-Service Date Factory Warranty or CPO Also, what is the reason they are giving you as to why it is NOT covered under warranty?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

03 996c2cab 45 k factory warranty

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

they said the car was in a accident and seat is not coverd because it was broken by somebody

POST 6Original post

Was it? The seat heater does not make much sense though. Someone too cold sat in it and broke it If they? broke the switch it is an easy DIY.

POST 7Original post

That would explain BOTH of the denials. If the car WAS in an accident and it could be the reason for the broken tie rod then they have every right to deny that claim. And if the seat appears to be broken from abuse and NOT a manufacturer defect then you are SOL as well.

POST 8Original post

warrenty does not cover accidents or outside influence

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

the car was never in any accident and was taken to a body shop before i purchased the car . the only thing that was painted was the front bumper due to scratches

POST 11Original post

The seat thing does not make much sense to me. Regarding the tie rod, that may not be a warranty item at 45K, even if there wasn't an accident. Is it worn out or defective? In the past several years, the line has blurred between warranty and the maintenance plan some manufacturers offer. Porsche's warranty is not a maintenace plan. If it just wore out, that should not be covered by the warranty.

POST 12Original post

Are you the original owner of the car? If not, you need them to show you the "accident" proof that is grounds for denial of the claim. And the seat, you need to provide more info about what is needing repair. If you aren't very descriptive it is hard for us to help as we have to assume what you are meaning.

POST 13Original post

Which tie rod? Front or rear? And is it bent or is the heim joint/ball joint worn out?

POST 14Original post

Isn't 45k miles out of warranty to begin with?

POST 16Original post

Stop letting guys who are named after alcohol work on your car - and no, this doesn't sound like work that would normally be covered under a warranty.

POST 17Original post

JD is one of the best dealers around. All the guys over there are great to work with. Another shop you may want to try is Prestige Porsche in Nauette. NY (I think that is the spelling) Excellent techs up there and very good service department.

POST 18Original post

it's lucky to own a p-car in north NJ. many great dealerships, many great indys. and the best pca.

POST 19Original post

I'm sure he is - poor attempt at humor - a little short on sleep this morning

POST 20Original post

I wouldn't say poor attempt at humor. I just wanted to make sure that the person that started this thread knew that he could be dealing with a worse dealership.

POST 21Original post

if it is a bent tie-rod, it is definetely not covered under warranty. most likely the driver banged something. seat heater just plain don't make sense, it should be covered.

POST 22Original post

not surprised about jd. never lifted a finger to help me with my audi. would never buy another car from them, and when i do buy another car, and if it is a p/a i would let them know that their lousy service reputation cost them yet another deal. don't feel bad, you are not alone in you dissapointment in jdpa.

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

they said that my cup holder was coverd and my vent also but there was a diagnostic fee of $289 for tech time to find the problem , that i told them about when i walked in there the worst

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

my local mechanic told me the repair was $108

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

L/F, R/F BENT RIMS, AND 2 WORN UNEVEN TIRES: $2824.80 R/R TIRE HAS NAIL. TIRE SHOULD BE REPLACED. LEFT SIDE AND RIGHT SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARMS BENT: $846.48 STEERING WHEEL OFF CENTER AND NO WEIGHTS ON REAR WHEELS. 4 WHEEL ALIGNMEN: $484.67

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

are these prices good or bad

POST 28Original post

JERSEY.....you really need to troll another board. We have tried to help you yet you have given ZERO information we asked for to try and help yet you come here and bash the dealer you have your car at. Sounds to me like you are trying to get the dealer to repair something that is obviously not a warrantable claim and hoping for somebody here to say something that you can run back to the dealer with and try to put them in their place. Not gonna happen.

POST 29Original post

Dell, glad you said it, as I was sitting here quietly thinking that this was another of "those" types of threads.

POST 31 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

okay if you people feel that way thats fine i will look elesware

POST 32Original post

What part of the wheels are damaged? If the lower control arms are bent then the car hit something. I suppose a huge pothole could do it but there is no reasonable way you can expect Porsche to cover this under warranty. Maybe your insurance policy might? Does that figure include labor for installation? Without knowing the part numbers for the control arms or the wheels we can't really say one way or the other. To give you a general idea here is the MSRP for two different style of lower control arms. 996-341-053-07 $267.36 996-341-063-00 $342.82

POST 34Original post

Did you just buy this car?? Was it from another dealer or independent /exotic car lot?? Did you do the damage? bent rims worn tires bend arms??? You need to tell us the events leading up to this, as best you know them.

POST 35Original post

Come on Maurice.....this thread is pushing 4 pages and we have yet to get the very info you are asking him. Do you expect him to say it now. We tried to help but he chose to ignore our requests for more info and then bash the dealer.

POST 36Original post

I just don't think he understands what WE want for an explaination. I was giving him the benifit of doubt. If he bought the car from a private party and or corner lot, they said hey! it's still guarenteed!! So go get the problems fixed under warranty, just buy it first. Sign here. Now he finds out too late he bought a bunch of crap and he thinks he's getting a raw deal warranty wise. not everone does his homework out there. Sorry to prolong this .I just thought I was trying to help him.

POST 37Original post

No need to apologize. We all have tried to help. There is no reason this should be pushing 40 posts and STILL not figure out what he is asking or not get an answer to our multiple questions to try and help him.

POST 38 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

just got the car from luxury import cars the dealer agreed to pay for a set wheels and tires and control arms

POST 39Original post

Tie rods do occasionally have ball joint problems that I would push to have covered under warrantee but they don't bend themselves. That takes a huge whack. No wonder the wheels are bent. What an idiot. Nothing pisses me off more than people that think someone else should fix their problems for them. Jim

POST 40Original post

My 2 cents. or as big John says $.000000002 I would not knock Jack Daniels or any service shop or supplier just because they gave you their opinion and you were not satisfied with it. Many years ago dealerships went out their way to cover any "suspect" warranty for the car owner; meaning if it even looked just a tad bit as a "defect" you got what you wanted. The OE's, when pushing their way into a market, will do anything to get you to warm up to them, such as "life time warranty" or "100k warranty". But when bean counters start to run the company they look for places to cut costs and warranties can be just one area (cough, more tomatoes). I would think that if a) the car was still under warranty and b) you bought the car at JD or c) you were a regular customer there might have been more consideration given if their guidelines in warranty review handed down from big P allowed so. The OE "P" is the one who pays JD for the parts and labor hours and rationally JD does not by nature turn down warranty work without reason. It sounds like JD looked at the complaint and you said they said no. And so here you post an unfair bash against them YET ( deja vu ) I did not read or hear anything like "I elevated it to the Service Manager", or "I elevated to JD's owners", or "They showed me the tie rod and how it got bent, or the seat issue ....... assuming you had the opportunity to see why they refused it or if you were fair and asked to show you why it was not a valid warranty. JD is just one dealership in NJ and as matter of fact I worked there back in the mid 70's as a novice wrench; I recall the Tech Advisor's going out of their way to help clients, as well as the Sales and Parts Dept. Years afterwards I have always had excellent service there too, even with new faces behind the counter. But like any business it is run by people and we all have good days and bad days. Any dealership or aftermarket repair facility or parts supplier will have the same... good days and bad days. You have to be fair and try to work with them and give them a chance to help you. What I have not heard is, "OK, JD did not agree with me, so I'll check out Miller, etc. and see if they can convince me otherwise".
