Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Can someone tell me the purpose of the passage that can be seen connecting the exhaust ports in the attached (hopefully) photo? Pressure balance, air injection from the air pump or ?

POST 3Original post

No, it's dry and connects the ports. My first guess would be the air injection system to light off the catalysts but I really don't know. I was curious when I noticed it doing the exhaust install and finally got around to asking.

POST 4Original post

Sorry, I do not know. But, how did you disconnect the O2 sensors? From top (engine lid) or can you access them from the bottom? I am talking about teh quick disconnects, not where they screw into the header. Tomasz

POST 5Original post

I got them all from underneath the car. The two front ones need to have the plastic undertray removed first. There's a lever on one side of the connectors that needs to be depressed before they'll disconnect. I'm afraid I don't have a good photo of that part. If you take a good close look at the front passenger side one once the undertray is off you should be able to see how it works as that's the most accessible one. The two rear ones aren't bad but you need to do them mostly by feel. The drivers side front one is a bear. It helps to have small hands. Have you read the three install articles? They helped me sort it out. Though I did disconnect all four instead of leaving the drivers side one connected and twisting the cable.

POST 6Original post

Hi All. Looks to me like this doesn't actually connect the exhaust ports, but is rather just next to them. I also see some holes back into the head. Water? Oil? Surely someone here knows for sure. -Jeff

POST 7Original post

If I remember correctly from a couple months back there are also small holes going into the actual port. Both passage and ports had the same sooty looking residue and were dry.
