Really easy DIY to fit, basic socket is all that is needed, align & tighten, check after a few miles

I will pop down to the OPC after the school run tomorrow, pick up the bolts and then re-attach the tip.

these are the exhaust clamp, not the nut and bolt set...they are slightly different things.

The bolt head itself is round at the top, but has a square cut under the head, so that it drops into the exhaust pipe and then through the Halfords Vauxhall Nova clip-on (so you only need to tighten the bottom of the nut to tighten it).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
As I mentioned before, I managed to reverse into a low curb and pushed my exhaust tip in a bit (didn't damage exhaust itself though).
Anyway, tried to loosen bolt to refit the tip and it part disintegrated.
I didn't have a remmel drill to cut it off as it had rusted solid and was going to wait until it was next serviced and have it fixed then.
Just pulled into a car park and noticed the engine was rattling and I've discovered the the exhaust tip has finally come loose! So, it now has been removed and the back of the car looks v funny with one weedy exhaust pipe and no tip.
A few questions please:
1. Does anyone know the official part for the bolt and screw for the tip?
2. Does porsche sell one that doesn't rust?
3. I take it is a bit fiddly, but relatively easy to reattch and tighten up - any advice on this and also how hard to tighten?
4. I take it the car is ok to drive without the tip on (I was thinking about the exhaust hea now coming out behind the rear PU, rather than a couple of cm away from it.
Cheers,
GD
1. part number is 99611110800
2. No
3. Really easy DIY to fit, basic socket is all that is needed, align & tighten, check after a few miles
4. Should be fine, the PU has heat shields behind it to deflect heat

Thanks guys. My car still has an OPC warranty on it and they are really funny about anything aftermarket, so although the design911 look a lot better/easy to fit, they will ask me to remove them upon renewal.
I will pop down to the OPC after the school run tomorrow, pick up the bolts and then re-attach the tip.
Does anyone know which way up the bolt goes (I guess the OPC can tell me if no one is sure).
I would expect the bolt to drop down from inside the exhaust and the bolt screws upwards towards to the exhaust (if that makes sense).
I suspect that the washer (which I presume will be in the kit) goes on the bolt side (ie. is underneath the exhaust tip).
Actually, I could have a quick shifty at the other tip to be sure!
Cheers.
PS - the really good news is that it's cured the rattling from the rear - I was convinced that I needed new rear drop links!!
So 'just' the extended warranty, seat repair (to fix the really annoying clicking/rocking), rear disc + pads, major service and fluids at the next service!
After that I need to get the rear PU repaired and my alloys refurbished....it's costing a me fortune and I'm now thinking that it would be just cheaper to drop it in and upgrade to a newer 997.2 (which hopefully has the engine issue fixed).
The part number above is genuine pork, so no problems with warranty
really easy to fit everything you need is included, get some autosol from your local halfords / motor factors and polish the tips up, 10mins job or let your opc sort under warranty... personally I would do it myself
Tip clamp + alloy wheel refurb is much cheaper than trading in for a 997 by the way!

Ok, had a go and turned into a bit of a pain in the a*.
Firstly, the part number (and design911 part) are very similar. ie. these are the exhaust clamp, not the nut and bolt set...they are slightly different things.
This is what I'm after:
The stainless steel tip (ie. the Halfords Nova part) slides onto the exhaust pipe itself and is attached by a bolt that drops through the exhaust pipe, through the Halfords Nova part and the nut is tightened up underneath, with a washer in between.
The bolt head itself is round at the top, but has a square cut under the head, so that it drops into the exhaust pipe and then through the Halfords Vauxhall Nova clip-on (so you only need to tighten the bottom of the nut to tighten it).
Porsche do not sell the nut + bolt separately, only with a new stainless steel tip pair (for £200).
I've managed to locate a zinc bolt and screw, which has a slightly larger round head, with a square underneath it, but the square part of slightly longer and has had to be packed with a couple of washers.
So, it is all reconnected, but I really want to replace it was a stainless steel version (or the OPC part - which you can't buy on it's own).
Sorry if I haven't explained that very well, but if you look under the exhaust tip, you will see the bolt I'm referring to and it's the one that holds the Halfords stainless steel sheath onto the exhaust pipe and should cost about 50p
No luck on design911 or ebay, but I'm sure you can get them from somewhere.
The guy in the hardware store (who sold me the closest nut/bolt they had) said it looked specialist/non-standard and would be tricky to source.
Does anyone have any suggestions please?
Cheers,
GD
PS - in other words, it's the nut+bolt that you adjust to move the stainless steel tips backwards and forwards (ie. the adjustment which sets how far they sit flush with the PU)
