This is not a probability of success.

I drive 15k miles per year, a lot of stop and go, and my 930 will fill the bill if I feel the need to "stir the pot", so an auto trans is a requirement.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I realize I'm asking a biased group, but ... I bought the 06 S65 to fit two car seats in the back. Now have three kids so that won't work, and the wife has a three row SUV and a Minivan. So, I'm free to downsize. I'm looking at a 996 TT Tiptronic as a replacement, but figured 'd ping you all to see what you suggest. Seems like a very low mileage 996 TT goes for about 50k. I'd be looking in this range. I drive 15k miles per year, a lot of stop and go, and my 930 will fill the bill if I feel the need to "stir the pot", so an auto trans is a requirement. I'd like little back seats, but would consider two seaters. I've thought of Aston Vanquish, but dismissed for reliability and maintenance cost reasons. V12 Vantage is out of the price range. Don't really want to do the newish Vette thing. Suggestion anyone?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh, and anyone want to buy a 2006 AMG S65 with 72k miles?

POST 3Original post

996 TT is a very comfortable DD & sports car. Probably 1000 lbs lighter than the S65 which is very noticable although straight line performance is simular. I am a lifelong manual shifter but would love to own a 996TT tip here in the big city due to traffic & jerks always trying to pass you stoplight to stoplight.
