Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anybody had the full Porscheshop 996 freeflow exhaust system fitted? If so how do you find it in terms of noise, (inside and out), vibration, and performance. I am happy to have a louder external note but dont want any droning or booming at cruising speed. My standard boxes are starting to split along the seams so its only a matter of time. thanks

POST 2Original post

Save your money until they actually go. The original boxes are bullet proof - they have really substantial folded seams. Mine have a few superficial surface splits about 25mm long but they are nowhere near failing.

POST 3Original post

PSE Porscheshop recently fitted the full PSE on my 996 and it sounds great. You've got the switch so you've got 2 notes to play with. Even in quite mode it sounds better than the old exhaust, with a slightly heavier tone. Jeremy

POST 5Original post

Hi, im interested n a sports exhaust - sound more than anything! got a 2004 C4S with no sports exhaust - twin tail pipes which i would like to keep. How much dosh to have fitted???? would like to get done soon  Also i live in Windsor west London, Anyone ever get together down this neck of the woods?

POST 6Original post

For those interested in PSE, I just got my 996 C4S standard exhaust modified by Hayward & Scott in Essex with the PSE 'hack' method. They take your silencers out, cut out the blanked off siliencer bypass and weld a pipe into place. It's the same basic method the PSE uses, but without the switchable aspect. It sounds great, not at all loud or boomy, just a harder edge to it and a bit more 'woofyness'. I paid £295+VAT, it's about a 2-3 hour job while you wait. My silencers were rusted into place, so glad I got someone else to do it!
