Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Because some idiot worked on my car the passenger window regulator seems loose now and it tries to lower the window when opening the door but will not. Also have a new rattle in there.*&%$#@ Any tricks? Seems pretty straight forward.

POST 2Original post

Steven - there is a link on how to remove replace the door panel and regulator. The "subject" car is a Boxster, but the door panels are identical to a 996. Hope this helps. http://www.bombaydigital.com/boxster/projects/window/

POST 3Original post

sounds like you need a regulator. when you install the new one skip the step for installing the bumper, that is boxster only

POST 4Original post

It's not bad, I followed the instructions from that link when I replaced mine last year. Just take your time and learn each adjustment, your window will be aligned and seal better than before!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. I hope the regulator is OK as the window goes down fine as I hear metal moving around. Tries to lower when the handle is lifted but acts like the regulatior is moving instead of the glass. Will find out more tomorrow.

POST 6Original post

If it is like mine, the switches and the motor were fine, but the cable on the main pulley had destroyed itself.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok Got it all a part. Really did not find a problem but realigned the glass and messed with a few other things people have screwed with. The question. It seems to be working fine now but the window goes down just about 2 or 3mm, where the drivers door goes down around 4 to 5mm when you lift the handle. I have looked over the regulator cables without removing it and they look fine but I am guessing the cable ends still in the motor where the short retraction occurs are buggered up. ANyone have experience with this? I am about out of time anyway but from experience should I just order a new regulator on Monday?

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Brad. My thought too since I don't want to mess with this again. The car had the child seat buckle when I bought it so the passenger door has been open a lot probably.
