Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

... yes thats what most of the dealers say :?
I've just started to look for my first 996 and as you might guess red is my preferred colour. I can't believe just how difficult it is to find one - I haven't actually seen one in the flesh yet ... anyone know why it is such an unpopular colour?
Guards red and black were the two colours of choice for the 964, so it's a fashion thing and with the 996 silver came back into fashion.
I have seen a couple of red 996's, so they do exist if you look hard.
Good luck, I think the 996 looks great in red.

Good luck in your search, it's half the fun :thumb:
I spent 3 years looking for a Great Guards Red 996, All the Trade sellers said that they either didn't have Guards Red in stock, and several said that they would not take into stock as they didn't sell. What a load of rubbish, try trading in a Silver coloured car .... the salesman is likely to say, " silver is such a common colour now and there are a lot in stock so unable to offer the deal you might like, However if it had been something Rare like Guards Red then that is different". Its horses for courses, and who cares what others think its you that wants the colour.
I eventually found an immaculate 2001/2002 C2 Cab, in Guards Red with Black interior, One owner only 18K and FULL Porsche official stamps and invoices. What a great car, and in my opinion, this fashion statement returns. Good luck I think there is a C2 with 22K and full history on Piston***** ( other sellers exist ) and also there is one on the Porsche official web site.
Good luck in your search.

Never understood why it was supposed to be unpopular. I would have loved a GR 996, but there was nothing around when I was looking. Wouldn't you just love to have something like this in your garage:
I don't think I've ever seen a red 996 in the metal.
Not convinced it suits the car. Really worked on the pre-993 models though.
(And no offence intended to anyone with a red 996! I've got an oxblood interior and that took a while to grow on me! Although obviously it didn't literally grow on me. That's what cows are for.)
In retrospect, I should have mentioned my criteria. TBH, just found it unusual that all the local dealers (well within the west mids) said they hadn't come across them. Before I came into this I expected red to be a popular colour ... and it appears to be for 964s and even the odd 993, just not the 996.
I'm looking for a C2, normal gearbox, X reg ownards (I've got a cherished reg on an X that I don't want to lose). I've got a budget of about 20k, but would like to keep some spare for repairs etc... unless the right one comes along of course.
I've seen a boxster in GR and it looked great, so I'm convinced it will work on the 996 (I need the extra 2 seats of 911 for a couple of ankle biters...)
