This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Sorry for such a simple, banal post as my first post here. I'm not a mechanical numpty actually, having done loads of my own maintenenace on other cars. However, the Cayman will get serviced by the garage as it is a company car. BUT - out of shere curiosity, i want to have a look at the engine. It's a '08 Cayman model with 6 speed box and active suspension. How do you get that panel off inside the rear to get access to the top of the engine? Thanks in advance. Phil.

POST 2Original post

Phil, Welcome to the club. I highly recommend you read our Cayman Club FAQ, member rules and also check out the articles section. There are two ways to access the engine; the best "view", which gives you access to almost everything is taking the top panel off, which is covered in this maintenance article: Engine Cover & Air Filter Removal - My Articles Then there is also a cover behind the passenger seat, which gives you access to belts, pulleys, and a good lock at the shifter cables as they enter the cabin: Removing Engine Cover on Rear Wall of Passenger Compartment - My Articles - Suneet

POST 3Original post

Welcome Phil  You will need a T-30 screw driver and something to pry up the very thick carpet cover, then just follow the instructions in the article above.

POST 5Original post

If you have "strong fingers" you dont squeezing them a bit there is no need to pry it out with a tool and risk scratching the panel. The middle section is easiest.

POST 6Original post

Barring strong fingers I've had success with a putty knife wrapped with a few turns of the handymans favorite tool, duct tape. No scratches on the trim so far. There are plastic trim tools made just for this kind of thing also.

POST 7Original post

Phil - THANK YOU for the fantastically funny title for your post! I live just south of Houston, Texas and survived Ike. But I've spent 3 weeks trying to recover at our office building, which lost top 3 floors due to roof damage and water POURING down the wiring traces and elevator shafts. Seeing a new member ask "Where is the Engine???" (before actually reading your intelligent post) gave me a good belly laugh!

And I thought, oh my God I love this guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

POST 10Original post

I have 2 questions for you: 1.) what company offers Porsche's as company cars, and 2.) are they accepting applications!

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
