i've just ordered a CONSOLE STORAGE SHELF to replace the cd holder in mine from design911 . it's not on their web site i had to phone them , cost was 25 plus p@p
I replaced my cd storage unit with the Storage Bin (square - to replace CD holder between D-DIN and AC unit - Black Plastic) - 996 552 253 01 01C - £20.42 (ex. VAT I think)
BEFORE:
AFTER:
GT3 console delete for me, more legroom
Phil
how long are your legs ??
Ive done the storage bin change twice - once in my Carrera and recently in my turbo. Just can't have that cd holder.
Am I the only one using this feature?
In fact, I even BOUGHT mine off eBay to replace the second cubby (which I then sold to Maxie!)
Well, if anyone wants to swap a cubby hole with my CD storage, PM me!!!
Indeed he did! And life is (slightly) the more easier for it.

That application is acceptable as you have a double din sat nav and have the displaced climate. This is your only storage. I certainly didn't need two open cubbies for my polos!
Hi,
Did that cubby shelf come with the two small plastic bits to fill in the left and right side of the climate control gaps below?
On the parts catalogue
996 552 253 01 01C says Shelf instead of radio and shows just the cubby hole on the diagram. Not the bits below it around the climate control.
That's a separate part, I would guess the cheapest thing you can buy at an OPC:
Air Con Fascia/Surround (for lower mounting position/curved edges - Black Plastic) - 996 552 339 00 01C - £2.86
That's good. Thanks. I spent ages at my OPC a while ago trying to find that and eventually they ordered something which was completely wrong.
The diagram on the Catalog shows it with straight edges. I suppose the drawings aren't that accurate.
I'll get that ordered - cheers.
Does anyone know if a cubby from the double din position can be used to replace a CD unit in the lower console position? I'm assuming they are standard DIN sizes and thus everything just fits?
I would doubt it. The top "double din" area is the correct width but is actually taller than the standard double din space. My double din unit was fine to fit but getting a surround required me to first bodge one then order one from custom Porsche makers in the US. Ive never seen a cubby hole in the top area.
