Suggestion

I had every intention of replacing my 997 with a 991, but the Porsche Sales Manager suggested that I test drive a 981S before I placed my order - imagine how few sales people offer their customers a lesser expensive alternative.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

28 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

As much as I loved my 981CS,we are a 2 car family again so I had to lose the 2 seater. The 991S is very nice and my 14 month old boy loves it!! The car is Guards Red/full beige interior.. Has some pretty good options except sports exhaust..I will deal with that in a few months, but I will say that the 991S makes some pretty good noise even without it. I got a good deal on the car but got killed trading in my wife Panamera (2014 w/4200 miles)..She had decided that her Range Rover is enough..Costly lesson but its done.. I did drive the Cayman GTS and really loved it!!! maybe one day I will get back in a Cayman..But am I one of those folks that need a backseat and as useless as the 911 backseats are,I need them!! I will continue to be around, all the best, Joey

POST 2Original post

Congrats and by all means continue to hang out here and perhaps add some posts to our 911 section !

POST 3Original post

Congrats! Don't worry about the PSE. It's an easy retrofit but makes a big difference.

POST 4Original post

Yeah Chows4us I am on it..at this point I have spent enough..I basically got a stripped down 911S for what a loaded one would be!!! ..3 cars was really overkill for us..losing the 981S and the Panamera made sense but flipping new cars is really not a smart financial move..I will be in this 991S for a few years for sure..and my wife loves her Range Rover.

POST 5Original post

Yep, trading in a new car hurts, but not as much as keeping a new car that's not right. Hope you enjoy the 991S.

POST 6Original post

Sounds great. Please stay around. We need more 911 guys/gals in here.

POST 7Original post

Love that color combo, of course. And an interesting reminder that, unlike a 981, a 911 is a "family car", if just barely. Congrats on avoiding the Minivan Malaise.

POST 8Original post

Been there. The car seat fit snugly in the back of my 911 and my daughter loved to go for rides and fall asleep. Good move. You won't regret it.

POST 9Original post

the best way to get out of that Panamera.. is find a heavily discounted 991S then lease it for 2 years... but congrats 991S is a great car...

POST 10Original post

Nice! 911S' are great cars. I will have one some day -- I am sure of it.

POST 11Original post

x2. my kids do not fit back there... and btw - Congrats Joey!

POST 12Original post

Methinks you made the best possible choice for someone who loves a 981 but needs that backseat. Enjoy it in good health.

POST 13Original post

just came back from driving my 14 year old and his friend in the new 911..they thought it was so cool...I am amazed how more room is back there than my last 997S.. I must admit I REALLY miss my Cayman S but this was really cool to share this with my boy and his friend..I have a 14 month old as well, and we just bought a car seat for it as well.. I will be the dad with the cool car!!! If money wasn't an option,I would have a Cayman GTS as well!!!!! all the best,Joey

POST 14Original post

Good luck to you from a 991S owner. I'm happy to see someone who appreciates both the 981 and 991.

POST 15Original post

Congrats and well done. The 911 posts are so scarce, its good to see some activity. I also loved the CS but the wife and kids felt left out. I'm in the same boat about the PSE retrofit. I've started a thread on it. http://www.planet-9.com/showthread.php?t=104977 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

POST 16Original post

I think every Porsche owner should own at least one 911 in his lifetime.

POST 17Original post

Congrats. We made a similar move earlier this ear... But from a 986 to a 997.2. Enjoy the 911.

POST 18Original post

well I wish I had gone from a 986 to 997..would have cost A LOT less!!!! I had a 997.1S and loved it..If it had been a 997.2S with the updated electronics,I doubt I would have ever gotten the 981cs..But then again I am glad I had the 981CS even though it was only 9 months!!!

POST 20Original post

Congrats and enjoy the ride! I really miss our 981 BS but I'm really starting to luv the 991 C2s cab we got as my "need for torque" replacement. Ours is a CPO and I had to add the PSE - not cheap but certainly adds more smiles to the miles! Be cool, Dad!

POST 21Original post

hey Beaverlake, my car doesn't have PSE and being a coupe, its not so bad..I am actually surprised how good it sounds..WE really got hit hard flipping 2 cars so I am not in a rush to put anymore money into a car..When I eventually do something I don't think I will do PSE..there are actually some better aftermarket options..Some that will give some power gains and still sound good..not so start a 981 vs 991 war but you said it.."need for torque"..its really a night and day difference..I just love the power of the 991S..and yes its a bigger car but it still handles amazing

POST 22Original post

Same here. I had a 2007 997S which I kept for almost seven years. I had it set up for the track with SS of course, along with PSE, Sport Chrono, and a few other options. It stickered for a tad over $100K. I had every intention of replacing my 997 with a 991, but the Porsche Sales Manager suggested that I test drive a 981S before I placed my order - imagine how few sales people offer their customers a lesser expensive alternative. After a 15 minute test drive, I couldn't rationalize the $30K 991S premium, so I ordered my 981S. Now of course if I needed a back seat, I would have ordered a 991S. I will say this about the 997S: it's a serious track car which can get a novice driver into trouble quickly. I'm certain the same applies to the 991S. I've taken performance driving courses and received my SCCA competition license, but my 997 still had my heart beating near max on several occasions.

POST 23Original post

Congrats. I too will be in a 991 within the next few weeks. Car has been built and is awaiting a ship. I am hoping to keep my Cayman, though am not sure I can justify 2 Porsches, however would love the best of both worlds .

POST 24Original post

Congratulations although it came a bit late. Kindly post pictures of your 911 in and out. On the other hand, may I ask what RR does your wife drive? For how long? Any issues?

POST 25Original post

she has a 2011 HSE..CPO car that knock on wood has had no issues..she had an earlier one that was not great..SHE LOVES THE RANGE ROVER..she had a short attempt at the Cayenne but missed the Range Rover..It is very good for what it is..luxury truck!! I need to take some pics of my car

POST 26Original post
