Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys, Is there a way to check the clutch for wear? Like any inspection gap/window that one could look through? I can see the flywheel in a few spots, but it was not enough to see the clutch plate. If that is not an option (without decoupling transmission from the engine), does anyone have any other idea how to establish clutch wear? The clutch feels fine. Well, now. Does not slip, engages smoothly…

POST 2Original post

There is no realistic method to see the clutch with the car assembled. Normally, the pedal "bite point" begins to rise and the clutch feels harder when it is on the way out.

Bummer... I thought you could scope it through some opening... Harder - you mean more friction, jerky to engage? Bite point - what is normal bite point? I know that the final step is slippage - so that is the moment you must do it NOW or risk a fire. I am not there yet, but without knowing history, I am just curious.

POST 4Original post

Harder peddle effort. Bite point is where the clutch just starts to grab. Generally, Boxster clutches bite fairly close to the floor when new, and that point moves further out as the clutch wears.
