Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

FWIW (in jmy other car) I run a Sparco EVO II (medium) on side mounts bolted to a floor mount.

Suggestion
It would be nice to run sliders but they'd push me up too high, and they'd foul on the door cards, and since no-one else drives the car, I haven't bothered.

You should be able to use your own runners and bolt the side mounts

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

hiya guys, have been pondering buying a bucket / 3rd party seat for my 996. On most sites (like demon tweeks or design911) they sell the side mounts and sliders, what else does one need?
the guys in demon tweeks seem to think I also need a subframe - presumably I can take this off my original seat? what's the best way about doing this ?
was looking at the following:

Thanks - that clears it up.
The reason I'm going for a cheap seat at the moment is simple - I'm old and likely to hate it, and then it can become a gaming chair.
Or find some second hand Recaro Pole Positions. If you don't like them, you're pretty much guaranteed to get your money back as they're always in demand and highly regarded (quality). :thumb:

In the simplest terms, you need to figure out exactly how you're going to attach the seat to the car.
Typically you can either bolt the seat to side mounts, which bolt to the car's sliders, or you can bolt the seat to a sub-frame (or bottom mount) which mounts to the sliders.
But you might also be able to mount the side mounts or sub-frame direct to the car, if you don't want or need sliders.
And of course, you need to find a seat that fits you personally. We all come in different sizes, and some seats are more comfortable than others.
In my experience, the best way is to find a solution that someone else has landed on (in a 996) and copy that to the mm.

Planted is a good firm for seat mounts by the way.
I went with fixed back bucket seat upgrades in my 996 with side mounts and runners as I wanted some limited access to the rear. I'm 6ft 1 and with careful installation I have plenty of headroom. I also asked for a seat belt clip for each seat to be mounted for me on the side mounts. I also have seats where you can get varying thickness of base cushions to also assist with comfort/headroom. I changed my OEM sports seats as they gave me backache and the new seats give a much better driving experience.
Cvega, PM me if you'd like to know more.
