I added the Transit Blue HF and rear speakers to my base stereo. I wanted to maintain the stock
Porsche
interior but also wanted the convenience of full
iPhone
functionality. The Transit Blue works great for calls, music and navigation.
Also, I created a factory plug in wiring harness that added the rear speakers and a powered subwoofer. This was a great addition for $300.00 total.
Can you give a few more details on how you ran wiring to the rear speakers? I've seen a couple threads on replacing the existing rear speakers, but have not seen any threads on adding them, which is something I've occasionally thought of doing. What rear speakers did you use? What subwoofer and where mounted? Thanks.
I installed a tranzit blu a couple years ago but it stopped working after about a year. Need to figure that out also.
My
Cayman
came with NO wiring for rear speakers. The stock head unit has pins for rear speakers but there weren't any wires in the wiring harness. I made a wiring harness extension in which I added the new rear speaker wiring and plugged it into the head unit and the factory harness. I then simply ran the new speaker wires under the interior trim to the rear.
As to the wiring harness extension; it was simple. I just soldered the wires from a female aftermarket head unit adapter (Metra 70-1784) to a replacement factory "female"
Porsche
/VW /Audi stereo harness (Metra 71-1784: this has to be split into 2 units with a utility knife). Both are available on
Amazon
for a grand total of $13.97.
I added an 8" Sound Ordnance powered sub from Crutchfield behind the driver seat for $150.00. The rear speakers are 4" Rockford Fosgate R14x2 for $30.00.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the helpful reply - a couple more questions. Is programming needed to get the
PCM
to drive the rear speakers, or did they just work once connected? How is the subwoofer driven? Which trim did you tuck the wires under - door sill or center console? Not sure the best path to the rear. Thanks.
No programming necessary. I just tucked the speaker wire under the center console then along the seam in the carpet behind the seats and under the trim. The subwoofer is a self contained powered unit. It's wired by +&- wires, plus an accessory power wire and the speaker wires. It's really simple to install.
Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll get ambitious and do same.
Hey - just fixed my Tranzit Blu! Removed the side panel so I could access the unit and see what the LEDs were doing. Turns out they were not that helpful, and my
next
step was to do a hard reset of the unit via the dipswitches, but I never got to that step. A web search yielded someone else having an issue caused by the name of the phone. Apparently the Tranzit Blu has trouble with punctuation in the name. I removed the parentheses from mine (it was the default name so I take no responsibility for that) and now it works fine. Wish I would have run across that solution BEFORE I removed the side panels.
