Hi, my
Cayman
R has Bluetooth phone connection without music... I have aux, USB and
iPod
connection in the arm rest... I want to use Bluetooth audio without using a power socket or an FM transmitter.... I I'm nearly sure I saw something on here before, for a unit the plugs into the USB and plays through the aux... Is this possible? Any recommendations?
BTW, I'm still hoping to use the inbuilt Bluetooth for phone calls... as my phone should support multiple devices...
Thanks for all the help... I've ordered a Bovee bluetooth dongle that integrates with the
iPod
interface... it's unlikely that I'll get track listings on the cars screen, but beggars can't be choosers... Still very disappointed in Porsches $4000 'infotainment system' that can hardly play music, nor provide navigation...

I'm so grateful for all the friendly responses...
Almost 500 people have viewed this thread, but only desmotesta has had anything productive to say... But for the sake of keeping people up to date & hopefully help others out with the same issues, here are my thoughts...
The Bovee WMA1000 arrived a couple of days ago. It took less than a minute to set up. Mine is the one that connects to the cars
iPod
interface, but there are other options including aux+USB, see link below. It started to work immediately... Sound quality is good, I can flick through songs via the cars controls, it picks up where I left off as I leave the apartment and get into the car, it plays from all of my sources including Deezer & HTC Music, navigation commands work well & it stops/starts flawlessly when I use the phone on the cars dedicated BT system... The only drawback is that it doesn't show song titles on the infotainment screen, but I can live with that. *Note: as I set it up, I unselected the phone setting and proceeded with the music setting on my phone menu, just to avoid any setup confusion.
Overall it gets a thumbs up from me, I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to play music from their phone.
iPod Integration
I bought this thing from AliExpress the other day. Installed it last weekend. Got it to work in 2 min. So far it has worked remarkably well. Only problem is that it doesn't automatically connect to my phone when entering the car. After having done that manually the sound is great. In
Spotify
I can select the dongle as audio device. I then control the music through my phone which is installed in a cradle. I have a 2010

Maybe I'm missing something but there are lots of Bluetooth receivers which will run off USB. I'm don't have a USB
plug
in my armrest so I just use a 12V adapter. But with the same cable you could just
plug
this
in and be set. It auto-connects my phone at power-up.
Here's my post
on the subject but you can ignore all the power stuff if you're just going to use the USB power in the armrest. Don't know if power is cut to the armrest when the key is in the ignition. If it's not, then you can do a variation on the fuse jumping I did to set that up (jump the armrest fuse to the same port I did).
blue foam, we haven't seen you since you got your car!
the lack of responses can be due to differing radios (some are using the base
CDR24
/30), ruling out FM transmission and not using a power port.
there are quite a few threads on audio, bluetooth and fm transmitters. search and you'll see some different options.
i'm using a simpler solution that breaks 2 of your rules but I'll share it anyway.
