I thought for a minute it was the fuse in the back of the unit, but that has a 10A fuse.

I was hooking up a new head unit to my 987 today, and was using a multi-meter to verify connections on my harness.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I was hooking up a new head unit to my 987 today, and was using a multi-meter to verify connections on my harness. I measured 12V as expected between ground and the 12V constant wire. However moments later I believe I caused a short with the multimeter prongs and am now not measuring this voltage. I went through the entire fuse panel and none of them seem blown. Any idea what I should be looking for? The wire in question goes deep into the dashboard and I'd rather avoid a full disassembly to trace it down. I could also splice it from elsewhere, but that'd be nasty.

POST 2Original post

Attached is the page that covers the non-Bose, no-Nav radio for the 2007 Cayman. Not sure how accurate or representative it is of what you have, but looks like fuse F9 is in the path.

POST 3Original post

I was confused as to what fuse F9 was, since the rows only go to E. I thought for a minute it was the fuse in the back of the unit, but that has a 10A fuse. Upon further reading, this is the ninth fuse in bank D, so fuse D9. I'll have a look at it tomorrow.

POST 4Original post

Fuse D9 was indeed blown, though it was a 10A as well instead of a 7.5A as described in your diagram. Replaced it with another 10A.
