Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Whilst out and about today, on the dual carriageway, car fully warmed up with cruise on, engine about 3000rpm and I noticed the oil pressure fluctuating by maybe 0.25 bar (certainly no more that that) with pressure around 4bar.
I havent noticed it before and just wondered if it were normal?
Pressure is rock steady at tickover (just over 1.5bar fully hot).
Oil has been in about 2000 miles and 3 months and is Mobil Super 3000 X1 5W-40. Oil pressure sender changed with genuine porsche item in last 3 months and all connections were cleaned.
Any thoughts or just ignore and keep on trucking!??
Thanks
Chris
The oil pressure senders can give incorrect readings .. the usual check is ignition on and see if it reads anything other than zero .
In short though .. i have never seen an oil pressure fault in nearly 16 years and on every model of Porsche .. it's always the sender unit .
There is a seperate warning if the pressure does get too low .. if you get that light then you turn the car off immediately .. never seen or heard of that though .
Carry on as normal is my advise .
EDIT .. actually not quite true .. pressure relief spring broke on one .. and the warning light for low oil pressure came on .. that's not your problem though as it sounds normal .
Demort Thank you for the reply, it reads zero when ignition on, and pressures seem more than fine - just checking it isnt the start of a known impending failure!
It might have always done it, just only noticing now!
I have seen similar event regarding oil pressure and it turned out to be a porly installed oil filter element. It had not been located correctly and subsequently twisted and squashed hence restricting the oil. Easy to check as it is on top of the engine :thumb:
diverzeusy, thank you I will buy a replacement filter and check (no point putting a old one back in!) - my filter is on the bottom rather than the top though.
Not overly worried as pressures a perfectly fine, just the slight fluctuation I am wondering about
