Can you get a base Cayman without Navigation, but still get the controls on the steering wheel to change radio stations?

Suggestion

Sorry if this seems like a silly question....but the last thing I need is phone or Nav in my car, but I do change radio stations like 20 times and can't go back to reaching for the dash...(I've been spoiled by ever car I drive, can't believe any car makers today, would not have this option)...but I also have a bad shoulder and this is very important to me.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Getting ready to buy my 1st Porsche, only one problem... Can you get a base Cayman without Navigation, but still get the controls on the steering wheel to change radio stations? Sorry if this seems like a silly question....but the last thing I need is phone or Nav in my car, but I do change radio stations like 20 times and can't go back to reaching for the dash...(I've been spoiled by ever car I drive, can't believe any car makers today, would not have this option)...but I also have a bad shoulder and this is very important to me. Thanks guys

POST 2Original post

the multifunction steering wheel option is only available together with PCM. As far as retrofitting it to work with the CDR-24, I'm not sure if its possible and retrofitting requires adding wiring harnesses to the car plus the cost of the steering wheel; it will run you around $2,000. Search multifunction steering wheel and some threads pop up with what parts are needed for a retrofit. - Suneet

POST 4Original post

I dont think you CAN switch stations using the MF wheel, not without scrolling and choosing a station anyway! ________________________ "Sir! We're surrounded!" - "Excellent! We can shoot in any direction!" A good car will get you from point A to point B. A great car... will just get you into trouble!

POST 5Original post

If you do decide to do it after the order, make sure to get the steering wheel with the round airbag. It will reduce the cost to change to the MFC steering wheel.

POST 6Original post

Sonny, I think the multifunction steering wheel has the triangle\square airbag, not the round one...so it would be cheaper to retrofit if he got the regular steering wheel. - Suneet

POST 7Original post

yes, that's right; ________________________ "Sir! We're surrounded!" - "Excellent! We can shoot in any direction!" A good car will get you from point A to point B. A great car... will just get you into trouble!

POST 9Original post

When the wife is in the car.... (can't drive fast all the time). Need something to pass the time in the slow lane. Thanks guys for all the technical ideas.

POST 11Original post

While those silver thingys with the radio controls on the regular steering wheel (triangle) may appear to be the same size/shape as those on the round steering wheel, they are not the same. Porsche makes steering wheel Tiptronic shift controls to fit the sport wheel (round), but I am nearly certain that they do not make radio controls to fit the sport wheel. Kinda hacks me off, actually. Just because I'm "sporty," it doesn't mean I don't need to adjust my radio volume.

POST 12Original post

i have a multifuntion steering wheel thats brand new but silver and light grey but i dont know if it will work with the regular radio that porsche has, they usually come with the pcm
