This is NOT an urgent question, but I'm in the middle of installing the XM satellite (i.e. for Cayenne) unit I purchased from sponsor Suncoast Motorsports. Having previously installed Tooki the other day, XM install has been easy enough so far, mostly following K-Man S's Dension and navigation installation articles. Based on all the cables that came in the package, it seems like it is really meant to be plug-and-play...obtaining power was easy, after finding the little plug on the side meant to power the CD changer.
So here is my question:
This photo shows one of the sets of MOST fiberoptic cables that came with the kit, someone actually did the work and created the MOST "triangle" to connect both the XM and navigation units:
The problem is, to use it, I have to replace the MOST cable and connection back behind the round silver (brake assist tank?)...I have small hands but....that's tight!
Is there an easy way to unplug the existing MOST cable and replace it? I already broke some plastic holder behind there trying to get to it
.
Of course, now I'm thinking it will just take 5 minutes to just punch out the little blue tabs and create the MOST "triangle" myself. But I was just thinking that if they went through the trouble of sending this cable, there must be an easy way to use it....
If you have a factory cd changer, you simply unplug the most cable from the changer & plug it into the factory cable you show. The remaining connectors install into the changer & XM unit.
For my Dension installation I used the MOST connections to the amplifier. Its right there and easy to get to. Note: I do not have the CD changer, only the Head unit and Bose Amp before installing the Dension.
I did this because I could not figure out a clean way to get to the Fiber behind the brake booster…
Good luck
I broke the same adapter behind the brake booster and didn't sweat it. That is the one that is recommended in the TSBs on installing the CD Changer or Nav package.
Ok thanks everyone. So basically which set/configuration of MOST cables I use depends on what I already have or don't have installed, and don't waste time getting behind the brake booster if you don't have to
All the ends of the cable I posted above were "male" and I just realized my XM kit came with one "female" end. So it is very easy to swap out the most connectors and set it up whatever way you want.
Do you happen to have a pictures of where the MOST cable plugs in to the BOSE amp? I'm doing this install this weekend.
Thanks.
