Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hey. So I had installed a PCM a while ago and recently installed the navigation module using K-Mans excellent how-to guide. The problem that I keep having is that when I'm driving around the indicator of where I am on the map is frequently wrong. For instance, I'll be driving down the 405 at 70mph and suddenly it will think I'm on a canyon road adjacent to it, or not on a road at all, just in the middle of some blank space. Is this normal? Could I have installed something wrong? Thoughts would be appreciated. G.

How many GPS sats are you picking up? I am thinking maybe you are losing the signal. Does the antenna have a clear shot to the sky?

POST 3Original post

im having the same problem, have a good number of satelites too....when i turn the arrow goes straight

Hey Gmorat, I found this info in an old post: "I have learned that the navigation drives for the Porsche PCM have two types: those for 2WD card and those for 4WD cars. If you get a 4WD model and put it in a 2WD, there will be no error codes. However, your car on the map with jump erratically, causing all sorts of miscalculations. At first, I thought the gyro in my unit was bad (as the behavior is typical of such a malfunction, and after disassembly, or nav drives DO have a gyro/accelerometer sensor)" I hope this help

POST 5Original post

are the gyro/accelerators in the dvd nav unit?

POST 7Original post

Do you remember the model on the Nav drive? I don't have that problem with the kit that I just retrofitted similar to yours.

Its # 997.642.159.01. I just emailed the guy to see what it came out of. His auction said for a 997 or a Cayman so I think he'll be helpful and seemed like a good guy. G.
