I run 295/30/19 on the rear of my 996 with an 11" rim.

I have 19s...I can check my tires when I get home tonight and post up if that will help.

Suggestion
It has nothing to do with series, it has to do with replacing the RD with one that is within tolerance.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I tried searching but for whatever reason search isn't working. Just churning, no results.
I don't own a 996 but for a project I'm trying to find the correct rear size. I've found conflicting information.
Is it 295/35-19 or 295/30-19?
Thanks.
There is NO stock tire size for a 19". The 996 came with 17 and 18" wheel options. However you can get a tire that is within tolerance for the rolling diamter.
The 997 has a 19" option but NOT the 996. Never has. What are the "fitment guides" you are referring to? It has nothing to do with series, it has to do with replacing the RD with one that is within tolerance.
Regardless.....the 35 series tire in the 19" size is aroughly 10% differnt in RD which is WAY outside what is acceptable tolerance. You would NEED to go with the 30 series tire.
newport is right with regards to tire width. That all depends on what width wheel you go with. But as for the "series" of the tire you NEED to stick with the 30.
I think there are only 4 tire manufacturers producing 19" rear tires for the 997 Rims at this time, so not a lot of choice.
I went with a Toyo T1 315/25/19 for my 11 inch rear tire, keeping the RD within spec on my 996.
The 315 on the 11 inch rim stands up more, making the 25 profile tire within spec for the RD
The Toyo also has a nice protective bead on the wall to protect the lip from damage.
