I finally did my own solution, I took out the CDR24 unit with the Bose system and had an Avic-D3 installed with navigation, bluetooth, and ipod.

Try pulling the fuse and see if it will reset - there's a diagram on the back of the fuse compartment door - failing that, it sounds like you need to go back to the dealer...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I took it in to my dealer and they reset and reprogrammed the unit, and still did not help.

POST 1Original post

I have a problem with my stereo in my Cayman s. Its the standard CD player with BOSE system. The problem I have is that it has a mind of its own. Sometimes it wont turn on, then another time it just wont turn off. None of the buttons work when it goes into this phase. After a coupe of days, I get in and start the car and all is normal again. Can someone please help.......I know that I can just take it back in to Porsche but its such a pain for me as my nearest dealer is miles away. Hoping someone has some words of wisdom to help me out here. Thanks.

POST 3Original post

I agree - it can sometimes work. Better still, put something else in the dash. A couple of months ago I got fed up with the standard CDR24 and installed this . Does everything I need and looks fantastic.

POST 4Original post

You will not be able to fix this problem you are having and neither will your dealer. I know exactly what you are talking about, as I have experienced it myself and had the same audio setup as you. I took it in to my dealer and they reset and reprogrammed the unit, and still did not help. They even then decided to take out the old unit and installed a new one, still did not fix the issue. I finally did my own solution, I took out the CDR24 unit with the Bose system and had an Avic-D3 installed with navigation, bluetooth, and ipod. No problems ever since and works as it should, my installer even kept the Bose speakers in place with the Avic-D3. I had the exact same problem with my cossfire, and my dealer could never fix it then either. On a 996 GT3, it came equipped with the exact same headunit as my Crossfire. Guess what, I still had the same problem as well! Seems like this one manufacturer is making the same junk units for Porsche across the line and needs to be eliminated. Good luck with whatever route you decide.
