Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

On the advice of a mate, who has a classic mini, I'm using Bilt Hamber S50 in the cavities and UB for exposed areas.

Used Valvoline Tectyl ML, but Dinitrol is also good.

I'd pull the bung to check the sills, then inject them with wax.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm in the process of cleaning the 996.2 underneath and waxoiling (bilt hamber) so far just a few minor bits of rust to treat & paint.
Started on the rear nearside arch tonight and its cleaned up well - removed about a kilo of crud. However, one of the end of sill bungs, which is smeared in seam sealer seems to have an orange (rust) tint to it.
Shall I dig out the seam sealer or just leave alone - what have you found in this vicinity? I remember Wasz posting a picture of rust around the bungs.

I was thinking the same re cross brace - I'll clean up with emery cloth, rust cure and hammerite it.
This quick waxoil is turning into a saga! The garage is a complete mess with underbody trims / shields everywhere!

You have to draw the line somewhere or you end up in MisterCorn's situation having taken everything apart, 😂.
From that internal image I think you have nothing to worry about and have got there in time to keep it as good as it can be. Well worth doing a thorough job if the car is a keeper.
Also the underseal on these is really thick and can hide corrosion if water has got under it through cracks or chips, so if you are feeling brave any loose bits can be removed and the metal treated.
Hi
I rustproofed the drivers side sill on my 993 yesterday. Used Valvoline Tectyl ML, but Dinitrol is also good. Don't use waxoyl.
Your sill looks great from those pictures.

I'd just used waxoil as a general term!
On the advice of a mate, who has a classic mini, I'm using Bilt Hamber S50 in the cavities and UB for exposed areas. Dinitrol and Wurth were on the shortlist - all good products.
Hi
Thats good. Yes all of those are in the same category. My local supplier has stopped stocking Valvoline, so I ordered some Dinitrol to do the other Sill.
