It seems strange but I like more the exhaust sound of my previous 2002
Boxster
. Maybe the exhaust sound limitation was less severe in 2002 than 2009. I'm considering changing the exhaust on my 2009
Boxster
for a OEM muffler from 2000 to 2004
Boxster
2.7L . I dont mind loosing a little power to get a better exhaust sound ( on my taste). I have 2 posts car lift in my shop so I can fix the muffler tubing needed. Does anybody done that? Any info would be appreciated.
Just get a Fabspeed Maxflo and be done. Plus it's polished stainless steel mufflers look great. Nice SS dual tips looks better than a stock 'S'. Sound is not too loud, and definitely a big improvement. Added bonus - a couple extra HP.
There was a cat-back exhaust system group buy years ago, by site sponsor FVD Brombacher, that was a
986
- style, single piece muffler. It was available in two variants: TUV-approved, and Sport, depending on how aggressive a sound output was desired. IIRC, it was manufactured by a German company called M&M.
Here's an example:
987.1 Cayman / S - FVD Brombacher Sport Muffler - Sound...
987.1 Cayman / S - FVD Brombacher Sport Muffler - Sound Version - Dual 3.5" (90 mm) Tips. Sold new from FVD for $1,771 plus shipping. Returning car to stock, so this is up for sale. Used for 20k miles. Packaged and ready to ship to 48 CONUS. Price is $1,000 shipped.

I'm not ready to spend what I consider big on Fabspeed or others aftermarket companies, considering our canadian dollar worth only 69 cents versus us dollar. Anyway thanks for the reply.
Thank you for the info. Do you know (space wise) if a 2000-2004 fit in the place of a 2009 Boxster muffler.
I'm sorry, I don't know for certain. While they appear to be similar, the devil is in the details. Perhaps contact one of the aftermarket
Porsche
exhaust manufacturers. They should know the fitments well.

Keep your eyes peeled on promotions and incentives which can greatly improve your cost of entry. We recently had Free Shipping (even internationally) and a more recent offer was a 15% price consideration on our
Porsche
collection.
