Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all Test drove a 03 targa today, however it had quite a bit of wind noise. 1. is this normal 2. can it be fixed / improved car is 03 plate 55K full OPC history with a new clutch up for £23K ish.

POST 2Original post

Re Targa 1 yes 2 no But more importantly its a Targa, you know you want it and once you get a test drive there`s no substitute, especially with the roof open wide Unfortunatley you are buying a summer car in winter Norrie

POST 3Original post

Can't say I notice any wind noise from our Targa with the roof closed, just the occasional creak. At motorway speeds the tyre noise seems the dominant one. Dave

POST 4Original post

I think it is normal, mine isn't exactly silent, especially at speed. Might be nothing more than lubricating the seals around the roof and the windows....of which there are several. I do it a couple of times a year with good effect. Alternatively just put your foot down with the window open! Anyhow, when the suns out and you open that roof all is forgiven, promise. Creaking roof is annoying but not difficult to get rid of...see other posts on here to find out how to rectify that easily and cheaply. If the cars straight and original then it'll probably work out to be fine, and all that extra headroom! Price also sounds reasonable for a good example from a dealer. Private should be a little less I think, although it has full OPC so still fair. Good luck! :thumb:

POST 5Original post

Was the wind noise with the roof open or closed? If it was when it was open, make sure that the front wind deflector bar hadn't stuck down....that will make a big difference. With it closed, I've got to say that mine doesn't make any more noise than a coupe. Did the roof obviously line up ok when closed? Perhaps one of the rubber seals is slightly out of place.

POST 6Original post

As you can see from my other posts, I've only had the targa for a short time, but I was impressed by how quite it was with the roof on. Just the squeaks as others report. However, depending on the spec I could be jealous. Mine's silver with black interior, 2002, PCM1, 70k, independant history, manual and was £20k. Interior has seen some action though!
