I know what you mean, but with the 991.2, I thought it really changed for the better.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This worked for me on a second hand vehicle at the height of the price bubble 20 months ago (5% off).
I have been following 992 Turbo S values and prices. As we know Porsche have been churning them out and selling the dream to those who can’t get GT cars, as such the market is flooded - near 120 on Autotrader currently for sale. Currently starting at £135K for an OPC 2021 reg car.
Interested in peoples thoughts on residuals and where theese early cars need to slide to before stabilising somewhat and their depreciation curve flattening out - £100K?
The next 992.2 turbo s is going to have a smaller capacity 3.6 litre engine and hybrid gubbins. After flattening out I think you're right these should stabilise at around £100k to £120k maybe a bit more. A nice 991.2 turbo s is still £110k + hence I can not see a 992 turbo s being worth less unless it has higher miles. Porsche really did go mad with 992 turbo s production but I do not think it will effect long term residuals looking at current very strong 997 and 991 turbo s residuals and everything from manufacturers going hybrid or full electric. I'm thinking about ordering a new gen 1 2024 992 turbo s cab myself as do not want the electric stuff. Extra complication and more to go wrong.
https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/15970041
Your math is off by over £20k,
https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/15622243
here is an approved 991.2 Turbo S with similar mileage for just £90k (the OPC ad reflects the latest price reduction -
https://www.sytner.co.uk/vehicle-details/91c0517a-...
) So the 992 still has a fair bit to settle.
The upcoming Turbo S may have a smaller capacity engine, but it is based on an evolution of the current 3.0L unit, rather than the 3.8 which is significantly heavier and has been a limiting factor for a while now. This should help with weight distribution and make it more driver focused.
The current 3.7 is a a development of the current 3.0 too. Its in no way related to the 991's 3.8. They will dip but long term I expect them to settle. There's a fair few nicer ones in terms of the older 991 model at £110k plus too. We'll soon find out. I hope you're right be nice for them to be around £100k but I only see leggy ones at this sort of money for the for the next 12 months.
Suspect you’re right - going to take another 12months or so for prices to settle/stabilise I suspect. Interesting to see where things sit Dec this year.

Also looking at the pics of the new turbo s mule's front end think the gen 1 may be nicer looking. We shall see soon enough
I always find the facelift worse looking than the prior models but over time the looks grow on me, I found the same with the 991.2 and 992 models where I initially preferred the older models

I know what you mean, but with the 991.2, I thought it really changed for the better. And the interior improvements made it a no brainer (CarPlay etc).
Looks wise I think Porsche have knocked the ball out off the park with the gen 1 992. Really good looking car. The gen 2 mules I've seen with their funny front ends and active aero/cooling look flipping awful. Having said that I think the GT3 and RS look ugly too and I normally like them the most of any model.

WOW, that is a lot of Turbos - with these numbers of new registrations its hardly a surprise there are multiple cars looking for homes both new and used.
Hmm … 100k in the near future?
From a buyers perspective …
Reasons I don’t want to buy one
- they’re more plentiful than oxygen
- we all know they’ll be worth 40 quid in 2 years time
- NOT going to be funny to resell if I don’t like it
- they don’t sound great
- everyone will think I’m a bell at track days
- too fast for road… blah, blah, blah
- I don’t want another Porsche
- I hate my OPC
Reasons I’ll probably end up buying one
- I now need a 4 seat sport car that is good to drive and feels special
Long before they reach 100k, the basic principles of what they do uniquely well and lack of alternatives will have kicked in for me and likely many others.
Can’t see them dropping to £100K anytime soon, take the plunge if you want one otherwise you’ll end up being another ,, Wooda, shudda, coulda type person,,

I can see them dropping to £100k and below within 18 months. The Turbo costs not much more than a Boxster to build but Porsche gets circa £100k more for each car retail which is the reason they flooded the market. The 992.2 is around the corner, and will be a better car. The mild hybrid will combine EV style instant torque low down with a powerful twin turbocharged ICE . Performance will be phenomenal. The 992.1 Turbo S is a great car but it will soon be yesterday’s news. I’m not surprised there are currently 131 for sale on Autotrader. Values are only going one way and that’s down. It’s just a matter of when you want to hop on.

agree could be heading that way sooner rather than later. they built far tooo many cars for uk.

Oh god yes if your talking up to 18 months time, I was thinking more in the next 3-6 months when anyone seriously looking would be taking the plunge,, for me the whole range is going to slip off the end of the cliff bar the GT cars, last time I looked I think there was approx 20 variations of a 992 available, even Ford couldn’t manage that with their base,L, GL, GXL ,,,,,, models ,

I was being conservative
There are a lot Turbos out there but look at what else you can buy at similar price points. Traditionally, the Turbo is a high depreciating car till it bottoms out and bounces back over time. Prices will go lower till it’s such a bargain that it would be rude not to buy one at which point prices will stabilise. I wouldn’t be surprised if cars are selling for £110k within six months. That’s not to say we’ll see cars advertised for that price however.

this and imo it'll push other 992's with it, why bother with a T at £90k when a Turbo is £100k!

Because a T is more fun to drive. Unless you are a traffic light racer.
With approx 20 992 variations in the line up I would imagine there’s a model to suit everyone,, if there isn’t just give Porsche a ring, I’m sure they’ll knock you up a 992 Carrera Z or something,,
DMC2 said:

the lightweight package on the turbo s makes it between the T though as it has the thinner glass etc
I have a turbo s on long term loan from Porsche. Long storey.
The car is amazing but the 2 I have had are poor on the quality stakes. The current one has spoiler failure . The last one the same. That last one also had a squeaking seat and poor panel fit. They were brand new. Not ok for over £200k of car.
It has astonishing power and is also happy in traffic.
However .... other than the odd squirt the power is totally unusable on the road. Even the odd squirt you apply full throttle for no more than seconds.
It comes with a lot of standard kit and is the best looking 911 in my view.
Would I buy one ?
Well maybe if they got cheap enough but given the car is rejustify double the price.
Must of been a bumper sales weekend for the 992 turbo S, Amount for sale on AT has dropped by about 20 over last few days,, genuine sales or are OPC taking them off sale to reduce the amount of cars on the market???
If you're willing to do some research and locate a dealer who has had a vehicle in stock for an extended period (which shouldn't be too difficult), I imagine you could purchase one from an OPC for around £125k. At that price point, they offer excellent value.

£125K from an OPC is'nt happening short-term. There are many circ £140k Turbo S listed from OPC's that have already been reduced by over £20k (so priced to sell and already accounting for the market adjustment..) Just use the Autotrader chrome extension pack and you can see the history of price drops etc and time the car has been for sale...
This dealer has even increased the price...

i think you will see 125k turbo s sooner than you think.
dealers have lost the plot regards prices.
i've been keeping an eye on this one. it started off around 380-390K, then was dropped before xmas, only to put it back up after and now back down to lower than before xmas. fire fighting comes to mind and they dont seem to know which fire to put out first.

I'm not a betting man, but if I were I would put money on a handful of 992 Turbo S cars being advertised at £130k is <3 months from now. If they've had the car a while I'd be amazed if you couldn't negotiate that down to £125k.

There's a chap here that recently purchased a used Taycan GTS advertised for £115k for under £90k. Obviously a different proposition but the prices are far from fixed

Genuine question - how do you even negotiate at an OPC? In person haggling or just sending an email saying “I’d be happy to buy this today for 10k less”?
I kinda assumed OPC dealers won’t budge..

Sit in front of them, payment card in hand, and say, “I’d like to buy this now for x , have we got a deal?”
This worked for me on a second hand vehicle at the height of the price bubble 20 months ago (5% off).

I absolutely hate haggling and generally don't do it, but after I test drove a Cayman at my OPC, they senior guy came in to do numbers - they desperately wanted to sell the car that day to get it through for month end and were asking what they could do - then he said 'what if we take 5k off it, don't be afraid to ask'.
The car they were trying to sell me was the demonstrator which wasn't really anywhere near the spec I'd discussed with them and was about 15k too expensive to start with, but they did seem open to negotiation.

100% this. Over e-mail or phone they do not have complete confidence that a buyer will pull the trigger.
And be prepared to walk out if you don’t get the deal you want….

That's how I bought my car at the end of December ..
I enquired about a car that was an ideal spec for me, but with alternative options.
I had asked for the best price and was initially offered a very small concession ... which I then ignored.
The following day the salesman phoned me up to ask my thoughts and I explained my alternative options on the basis of which I punted the view that the car was worth substantially less ... and quoted a figure of £15k less than the advertised price.
This was a very amicable and detailed discussion and although I considered my view well respected, what I didn't really expect was the return call a couple of days later. The car was SOR and had been on the market for a few months ... the salesman had discussed my thoughts with his sales manager who had discussed this with the original owner, and given the market they agreed with me. If they could deliver the car with all the Approved Used benefits that included a 30 month extended warranty, would I buy the car ?
I think it took me 30 seconds to reply that I needed just to verify this with my nearest ... and 20 minutes later I confirmed that I would.
Sometimes miracles happen ....
Was that at a OPC Chris ?? Good if it is,,

No way, nothing has sold, it’s a conspiracy run by the mafia, half the opc network have actually folded but Porsche are keeping the premises open and fully staffed with stock just as a front! All just smoke and mirrors I tell ya.

Back to reality………I’ve been keeping a close eye on turbo S prices, they were dropping weekly, the ones at the bottom end, below £135k , all seem to have sold but others don’t seem to be dropping now and not many new cars coming to market at the low end…….

At what price would you consider it low enough to go for one?
Probably tons of them parked up round the back of dealerships, drip feed a few at a time to reduce the number of cars on the market hence reduce the depreciation ,, that’s my theory anyway

Back to reality………I’ve been keeping a close eye on turbo S prices, they were dropping weekly, the ones at the bottom end, below £135k , all seem to have sold but others don’t seem to be dropping now and not many new cars coming to market at the low end…….
What is yall's opinions on these 130k- ish 2020 model year cars with 3-4 owners vs 150k ish 2021-22 models with 1-2 owners?
If the car is the same spec, what is your preference? Plz help me decide haha

Just spoke to my local Porsche dealer in Dubai.
Good news depending on your point of view is that they are still taking orders on gen 1 992 turbo at the moment order book closed on all other 911 variants. Delivery within 6-8 months so gen 2 992 turbo s e hybrid will not start being delivered till 2025 at earliest . On Cayenne turbo GT its 12 months out here in UAE.
