Suggestion
My car has done 99,000 miles and for about the last 50,000 the OPC has had an advisory that the RMS is stained.I personally think it is fine and does not need doing as I check the oil on the dash everytime I use the car and with the dipstick every week and it has never used oil between services and no oil marks on the garage floor.

Their logic is that they'll discount a percentage of the claim if the repair "Improves" the car.

You have paid out £1350 for a warranty and are happy to have received only half of the total repair cost because of the policy exclusions and qualifications?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

True we charge for parts but then the chances of major failures are very remote and parts cost little even for an engine rebuild - but you also get brakes, clutches etc replaced for just the parts cost and they are going to wear out anyway and need paying for in full elsewhere - however well you look after the car.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i have done quite a bit of research on this recently and for OPC equivalent cover the cost of an independant warranty is very similar at circa £1200/yr. J Z Machtech have just started doing a warranty and when I renew mine...my money will go to them. They will give you a warranty even with a slightly leaking RMS...unlike OPC
For £75/month + Vat we provide free servicing when due (based on 12K/year), a free annual MOT and the labour for most repairs including wear and tear replacements like discs clutches etc, whereas you pay that for a warranty that may not cover everything and still pay for servicing on top?.

I have a warrantywise one with wear & tear included. Currently the in process of a claim. They have been very efficient so far, authorising the work within an hour. However they have lots of small print exclusions, eg oil seals are only covered if you need to removed the engine or gearbox. Also I've only got £60ph (including vat) cover so if u OPC it you're in for half the labour bill which is the majority of the cost on most things. I'll give details once they've paid up...
I'd be interested to hear how you get on with Warrantywise when it's all over. I'm thinking about jumping in with them for a year to give them a try but nobody has had any real recent feedback on them so I've been hesitating.
I am with Warranty Works. I am one year into a three year warranty that cost with discount £1350 for the three years.
I have a Platinum policy that covers virtually everything apart from wear and tear, they only pay £50 per hour labour and maximum for each claim is £2500 up to the value of the car.

I rang Warranty Works and said that the OPC has said that I need the RMS replaced and they said OK when you book it in get the garage to ring us.

The OPC charges me £80 labour per hour so all the RMS/ISS cost was not covered but I am more than happy with their contribution.
Just an update on my experience with Warranty Wise. They settled my claim with no fuss. They sent a cheque within a week, which i didn't receive, but they sent another one as soon as I told them nothing had been received. Happy with them so far.
2 Yr warranty with Wear & Tear included and £60 labour rate (including vat) and a max claim limit of 10k was about £1600. (My OPC labour rate is £120 plus vat.)
Don't go near Warrantywise
I was with Warrantywise, £788 for a year. Tried claiming three times, twice no joy because of wear and tear, the third time for a cracked camshaft which they said they wouldn't pay for because the garage could have broken it themselves.
The specialist Porsche garage I use told me they'd never has a successful claim through Warrantywise and the dealer I bought the car off has subsequently stopped using them.
Am I missing something here? You have paid out £1350 for a warranty and are happy to have received only half of the total repair cost because of the policy exclusions and qualifications?
Surley as 996's get older, most of the issues will be wear and tear, either directly or indirectly (wear of some parts causing catastrophic failure of other parts). Sounds like a licence to print money.
My point exactly and the reason I will never use them again.
Their logic is that they'll discount a percentage of the claim if the repair "Improves" the car.
I've yet to see any car that returns from a competent garage in a worse state than it was received :hand:
Lets face it, warranties are a rip-off. To exclude wear and tear on something as complex as a car is taking the preverbial. I can't believe people pay £75 a month or more, knowing full well that most causes of mechanical breakdown will not be covered.
