I just bought a Nuvi 350. I was considering to hardwire my Nuvi to the fuse box. I read an article about cutting the main power line from the Nuvi will drop the 12v to 5v? I'm not sure what that mean. I would appreciate a lot if anyone can show me. I hate to use the cig. lighter outlet.

Hardwiring the Nuvi (or any other device that requires 5V is not an easy task, as there are no 5V power sources available in the car. They're all 12V. What I ended up doing was buying a female cigarette lighter power port with bare wires and hardwired that into the fuse box, and plugged in the 12V Nuvi power adapter into that. Everything tucked behind the fuse box nicely. Alternatively, you can probably buy a 12V bare wire adapter from Garmin .

Do what Interpol said. I hardwired the Nuvi 350 into my TL that way over a year ago. It works perfectly. You don't even need to modify the cigarette lighter adapter that came with the unit and everything will be hidden.
