Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I am in the process of making some bumperette covers to replace the stock covers after removing the aluminum "bumps" on the stock rear bumper. The first pair will be fiberglass. Any thoughts?

POST 2Original post

Looks like your on the cutting edge. Hope your going for flat-flush fit as possible. Keep us posted. zornet :burnout:

POST 3Original post

spydr: If you can produce a cheap and attractive set-up, you could probably make a fortune. The OEM bumperettes are an absolute attrocity. Previous info on removing the bumper parts is that it is pretty hard to do; have you done it? There is an article on this - the experimenter gave up, I think.

POST 4Original post

Here we go again. Altering a successful design. I think two things about the after aspect of the CS: 1) The "bumperettes" are an excellent solution to the problem of European plates being a different shape than US plates AND our more stringent crash requirements, and 2) the styling of this area, focused as it is on the beautifully styled exhaust pipe, is masterful. And if you change anything you may find your top speed affected. (or not) I actually position my lounge to enjoy this view when a glass of wine supercedes driving.

POST 5Original post

IMO, I would be reluctant to modify the rear bumper because of the possibility of my insurance company reducing or denying coverage in the event of a rear-end accident.
