Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

What cheap modifications are available to make my Cayman S get 300 hp?

POST 3Original post

I estimate that 1/2 the likely "terra bytes" of space for this site is on that topic.

POST 4Original post

Depends on what you define as "cheap". You'll find that most Porsche mods are a bit on the pricey side compared to those for other cars. I added a Evo intake and GIAC chip upgrade from Sharkwerks which adds somewhere around 10-15HP putting me somwhere in the 305-310 range. About $1600 installed incl tax...

POST 5Original post

If you just want the performance of just 5 more hp than going on a diet is probably the cheapest mod....seriously as suggested your can read the modifications posts that will take the better part of next week if you really want to do some research.

POST 6Original post

300hp at the crank or at the rear wheels? If it is at the crank, you already have it with the "S" model, if it is at the rear wheels then simply intake, exhaust and ECU tune can get you to more than 300hp at the rear wheels. As others have said a little searching/reading will go a long way to revealing all that you seek.

POST 7Original post

I have been on that mod for couple of months now. How much of the performance do I gain for loosing 20 pounds?

POST 8Original post

Ahhhh....the old "300HP" pyschological barrier I see. First, some stock CS are dynoing over 300hp from the factory. Porsche obviously being conservative with their numbers. If you just want to creep over 300hp I would just do the AWE Catback. In your price range-ish and you get the added benefit of improved sound!

POST 9Original post

I'm surprised you guys didn't mention the de-snork, that's a quick way to free up some ponies, throttle response at lower rpm's is definitley better with the restrictor plate out.

POST 10Original post

desnork> 1-2HP>less than $10.00 K&N drop in filter>4-7HP>$50.00 for about $60.00 you already have about the same if not more HP as software which costs $600 or more. Another thing... and I am really serious about this keep your exhaust and get Cut off valves installed. I am really thinking about this option. If it is a Porsche option why not make your own. Of course Porsche has the valves in the mufflers or on the cross over pipe, I'm not sure. I will have them open at 4000RPM when the alternator hits a higher Voltage. I dont know we will see Or I might just use the factory sport exhaust switch. $82 from porsche and the valves are $150 each :burnout:

POST 11Original post

4 - 7 bhp? Doubtful. Even the Evo for a lot more money only claims 6. I'm working on the Aftermarket performance mods FAQ and nowhere does K&N even give a HP figure gain for the CS. Do you have some emperical data from a before and after dyno run to prove this. If so, please post so we can use this data in the FAQ thanks

POST 12Original post

I'd do an intake/flash and exhaust combo... There's different numbers you can expect from different combos but an additional 18-20hp would be do-able that way

POST 13Original post

:argue: 4-7HP comes from the butt dyno I am going to get the CS dyno'd with and without the filter next week. then I will post the data.

POST 14Original post

100 lbs weight change gives about 8 hp change, so the cheapest way to get your 295 hp "S" over 300 hp is to remove the passenger seat! Greg

POST 15Original post

Do they make a quick release kit for the passenger seat :naughty:

POST 16Original post

I have extensive modding experience and one thing I learned after years of work on cars is to take any modification that doesn't give you a 10% gain or more with a grain of salt. Personally if I can't get 30hp out of something I am not going to mess with Porsche's design. If you're really keen, wait on a supercharger kit.
