Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Searched this forum for 996 option codes and downloaded the list, but can't identify these four codes:
X97
X98
M226
09991,
I think one or two of them maybe the Ali surrounds on gear lever and handbrake ???
Perhaps one of them is Colour Coded Hardtop??
Managed to get everything else off the list, and no surprises, (Like a hidden Turbo or similar) .....
All replies gratefully received, thanks
OK, more searching found a link to a Decoder site, very helpful
as I sort of guessed,
X97 & X98 are the Ali Surrounds on Gear lever and Handbrake
09991 is, Quote, 'Manufacture from the the Exclusive Programme', Anyone have any knowledge of this????
The only one not Identified so far is M226
cheers
they are hidden in the Parts list
X97 - Aluminium/leather Gear Knob
X98 - Aluminium/leather Parking brake handle
09991 - Exclusive options (unspecified)
M226, I've seen this before but remains as far as I am aware unknown
according to 996 book by Adrian Streather M226 is
"change to manufacturer of tyre installed on the production line ( not customer selectable )
codes M226 upto code M239 all say the same
nothing to search the boot for then

Unsurprisingly, it means it is an option added via the "Exclusive Programme". That is Porsche's bespoke option route. ie any colour or material requested by the buyer can be spec'd to a component. (except Gulf Blue paint due to legal reasons!)
This normally just means a colour sampled paint or leather applied to one or more components (ie bodywork, seating or trim piece). It can, however, extend to aesthetic re-manufacture or bespoke manufacture of any part to the client's specification. It doesn't extend to functional (ie performance) modifications as these could not be warrantied, homologated or type approved.
Obviously oil-sheik sized wallets can bypass this system, but then Porsche don't predefine a public "program" assigned to that. Porsche would simply operate a special request concierge service bypassing the trivial services offered to the proletariat!
I think that any car which has IX option codes (chosen from the Exclusive range) will also have 09991 on the VIL, not necessarily bespoke options.
My Turbo has a couple of IX codes (aluminium bits), but nothing that is special.
Perhaps it just indicates a non-standard parts bin MUST be pre-arranged for that unit along the production line etc.
ie it is an internal logistics heads up (like the the code to advise for alternative tyre brand etc)
