Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone do this to preserve the life of the brake disc and prevent the dreaded corrosion of the inner faces and ultimately pitting of the disk?? If so, how? :dont know: Cheers :thumb:

POST 2Original post

Yes, simply take it for a spin and slam the brakes on a few times.

POST 3Original post

I did 40,000 on my first set of discs without going for a drive after I'd cleaned the wheels. How long do you want them to last?

POST 4Original post

+1 although I do use my car nearly everyday so if you leaving it standing in the garage for days/weeks it might be a worthwhile precaution :dont know:

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. Not a daily drive at the mo so that's why i'm asking (although I do use it a few times a week at least). I usually take it for a quick spin after a wash to dry the disks & clear of rust so I guess I was just reffering to after the car has been out in the rain. ....I suppose a little moderate - heavy braking will dry them off before it's tucked up in the garage for the night  Cheers again guys

POST 7Original post

After washing/jetspray or rain is the problem: I usually drive it round the block doing some gentle left foot braking to drive off the water and warm it all up: gently apply brake with left foot as giving enough right foot to counter the drag: 100m of that plus some harder stabs should get the brakes hot enough and drive off any water with limited wear... much worse if you park up with wet brakes after washing: they tend to rust together ***** up the disc surface..

Good advice....cheers :thumb:
