Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check done' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check done' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I've reset the throttle using the key ignition method and that hasn't solved the problem.

I don't know what part of Surrey you are from, but if you fancied a run over to Maidenhead I'd happily plug in the tester for you.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hi,
I posted a few months ago about a strange problem which hasn't gone away (or got worse for that matter), but I wondered if anyone had any further suggestions:
The problem is that I can feel the engine pull rhythmically when the throttle is held steady. It feels like the rpm is slightly moving / revving 2* a second - although it is almost impossible to see the rev needle move (it is almost steady, but has very, very minor movement, ie. looks normal).
When it happens, it always seems to be between 2 and 3k rpm (when the engine is about ready to either change up or down - usually down).
I also notice that the engine sometimes, when going up a hill, between 2 and 3k rpm, seems like it's going to stall. The car starts to jump, the rev needle jumps up and down and eventually the car changes down a gear (or I press '-' on the steering button) and the problem goes away.
I've reset the throttle using the key ignition method and that hasn't solved the problem.
It doesn't happen very often, but it's something that I'm starting to worry about. I don't get any engine lights or error being displayed on the dashboard.
I've also noticed that when I brake (when in stationary traffic, ie. < 5mph), you also get this engine pull at low speeds - almost like the brake pads are warped (which they are not), again, it happens 2* a second (like it's an electrical input issue, which the engine management system is correcting.
Finally, I sometimes notice that when I come off the throttle, the rev needle doesn't always drop smoothly (don't know if this is normal/unrelated though).
Cheers,
GD
It could be the MAF. Have you had a diagnostic check done? That would be the first thing to do.

Thanks for the replies and the offer Richard. Maidenhead isn't the far away from me.
The car actually is under warranty, so I might just pop it into Guildford OPC, but whenever they see the car, they usually say nothing's wrong (although, granted, I haven't taken it in with this problem).
Cheers.
