I have noticed that since a very recent service the oil check gauge is registering right to the top bar.

Hi, I have a C 4 Tip. I have noticed that since a very recent service the oil check gauge is registering right to the top bar. This is both at hot and cold. On checking the dip stick this registers over the full mark. Looking at the dip stick it narrows in between to max and min levels and the oil is over the max up to the small indentation in the plastic. My questions are: is this a problem? Is over filling the engine to this level going to damage it or does it not matter? If it has the potential to do damage what should I look for? I am taking it back to the service shop but ahead of this would like to hear anyones thoughts. Clearly not looking for this to be a problem but equally don't want to be left with a problem due to someone elses actions. I don't want this to be a doom and gloom story but realistic. Thanks.

Some of these service technicians need to go back to school they really do. Muppets, they really are. Personally, get it back there and have some oil removed or drop some out yourself, either way I wouldn't leave it, so get it checked to be sure.
